Location: Phoenix | I've seen the pro choice wool cinch and I don't like it. Like most professional choice cinches, it seems like there's nothing to it. I am considering either the alpaca cinch from Classic Equine, a 5 Star mohair or a Sensorflex fleece by CE. Thoughts? I know fleece isn't as "good" as wool. And u like the leather reinforcement in the middle of the CE alpaca. But I don't like how the rings are exposed on the 5 star and the alpaca....leaning towards the Sensorflex at this point. Experience with any of the above? |

| I only put mohair on my horses and have for the past 8 years. No problems at all, just get as many strings as possible. |

| The pro choice shearling cinches are actually wool, skinned right off of the animal, the wool is still attached to the leather.
I had the weaver alpaca cinches and the d ring made all my horses sides sore, when I switched back to the shearling cinches they were fine.
The alpaca cinches also stretch so I found I was having to re tighten 30-60 min after I was riding and I ride with a loose cinch.
If you want to go with a 5 star cinch you can get the d ring cinch protector. |

Location: 100 miles from Nowhere, AR | I have PC shearling and CE sensor flex cinches. The fleece is wool fleece, not synthetic, and the CE is my favorite cinch because it's dense and doesn't have a lot of poof hanging out. I don't like string cinches and my horses seem to prefer the comfort of the fleece with padded buckles. |

The ce cinch, I have looked at them, and to me it didn't look like the fleece was still attached to the hide, can you comment on this?
To me the ce cinch is more like the PC merino wool cinch

Is the whole "attached to the hide" still true if it's detachable so you can machine wash? |

Location: Southern Indiana | I switched from sensor flex cinches to mohair cinches a few years ago and can't go back. I can't stand a bulky, sweaty cinch hanging or laying on my saddle. The mohair ones cinch right on to the connector and lay flat. I just got the classic equine mohair with the leather center for Christmas and have yet to use it. I'm not sure about the leather center, but will find out soon. I have been using a double j cinch that came with my saddle, a cowboy tack one, and an alpaca made by mustang. I've had good luck with them all. 2 are straight cinches and one is a roper w/o the leather center. I've never had any issues with the buckle rubbing or irritating my horses. I like that they have some stretch. It's like wearing 100% cotton jeans vs ones with spandex. Nothing worse than something tight that just won't give you any relief.
I would pick the 5 star if I had the choice of the 3. |

Yes, the CE are like the merino wool. I like it better because it feels denser and isn't as slick and slidey. The horses don't indicate a difference between the 2, it's my preference. I still have mohair and soft touch neoprene cinches that are used occasionally and they definitely have an opinion about those. |

The shearling wool is sewn to a Velcro piece which then velcros to the nylon with the d ring, so to wash it you pull the two pieces apart and throw the shearling into the washing machine. I wash mine with a hospital grade shampoo for sheepskin.
I use mine constantly and generally get 3-4 yrs out of them before I start loosing wool and have the hide exposed. |

I don't put my shearling cinches in the washer, instead I hang them and blast them with the garden hose. I called Pro Choice with questions a few years ago and they told me not to use soap. |
