| Anyone see the Facebook post Jim Ross Cooper made? This may have already been posted here, but I didnt see it if so. Anyway, pasting the post below. What do you think about what he has to say?
Do my Facebook friends remember when Rodeo (PRCA) was a sport that wasn't infested with political agendas?? well guess what the news the day is? The Champions Challenge events that take 10 teams or contestants that already sucks because of the complete unfair advantage it gives you, since you only rope against 10 guys and pays like a top 18 rodeo.... well it was already pretty screwed up in my opinion because 1) rodeo has always been what i call a "prove yourself" sport. no guarantees, no bye weeks, no way to beat the field unless you roped better than everyone else in that year. After originally giving the top 7 in the world from the previous year, say '13, got byes into All of the Champions challenge events in '14. that already goes against what i believe the midwestern people of America believes in, which is earning your own way. GET THIS: they had a draft today to see who gets into the champions challenges for 2016 and changed the rules up a little bit.... the sponsors wanted the right to draft whoever they wanted from the top 15 instead of the top ropers being guaranteed a spot. pardon my language, but listen to this ****. Aaron Tsiginie, our current world champion, didn't get drafted on a team. wow. but i think the 13th and 14th finishing heelers in the world did get drafted. the best part is, some of the guys knew the new format before the NFR and used that time to kiss the asses of all the sponsors to try and sneak in. and it worked. I'm outraged. it was my belief that rodeo was the last sport where politicking and ass kisssing didn't matter as much as what you do with your skill and will. this is obviously not the case anymore. PRCA and Sponsors should be ashamed of yourselves for stooping so low. Im definitely not for the ERA because of their extremely lax and borderline fraudulent system for picking who is in their "elite" association. (mostly family and friends/ people who are invested in it or know sponsors who are helping out financially). but its one thing for a private rodeo league to pick and choose based on things other than winning and the best contestants..... its a whole other ordeal when a Member Association allows its main "tour" to become so corrupt. It's bad enough that if you win one of the 4-5 winter rodeos you can be eligible for the entire season of these "showcase" events.. but now it comes down to politicking and who can smoooze the best? i better get a book by Dale Carnegie "how to win friends and influence people" and just stop practicing my roping since we as an association are crumbling from our foundation of skill and will to one of friends and favors. so if you agree or don't, let me know your opinion. Post on the PRCA rodeo page, post or email/ call the sponsors. Let them know the working people of America who aren't vegetarians or afraid to shoot a deer or plow a field, or just your normal country people don't appreciate their cronyism and ass kissing ways replacing the whole point of any sport.... to see where you stack up against your fellow competitors. And if you are one of the people who used this to your advantage, Im not mad at you or even blame you, BUT i do blame the system that makes it possible for you or anyone else to get into the best rodeos with your mouth in stead of your talent. This will affect NFR qualifications and World Championships. Realize the power you have as fans and stand up against this kind of mockery of our sport before the exception become the rule and rodeos can pick and choose who they want instead of having the best decide it in the arena. Cinch Jeans and shirts this goes for you too. the People at Cinch routinely leave out whoever speaks against them or doesn't suck up to them and their company when it comes to their events as well. google who got to team rope at the Cinch Shoot out in Ellensburg, Wa in 2015 if you don't believe me. After i made a post about Cinch last year about not even having all the events at their performances.. they then added all the events and made it right or more right in my opinion. But when it came time for the Orleans Cinch Shootout during the finals, there were guys invited that finished the year below me that got invites. Personally i couldn't care less(my checkbook cares though), but if we as a Rodeo Community continue to let these politicians and businessmen pick and choose their favorites all the time, where will it stop?? so you guys want to be shady and do things that the people who love and support rodeo wouldn't stand for because u think no one will freak out??? I'm your man.. ill freak out. I have only 2 real sponsors. Tate Branch Auto group thats from my hometown and have a family relationship with, and Classic Ropes, who I get free ropes from and a bonus if i make the finals. If i lose them both, it would be worth it to shed some light on the state of our Organization. Couple more things; 1) the Champions Challenge events were sold to the cowboys and more national tv time which would greatly help our sponsors. I have yet to hear of a single cowboy getting a sponsor because of those events. 2) after calling out Cinch last year for not including all the events in their rodeos, a Cinch rep tried to find out who some of my sponsors were so they could put pressure on me to keep my mouth closed.
If we don't start standing up for ourselves, where will the PRCA, ERA, CINCH and others stop?? to my fellow contestants: stand up for yourselves. back me here if you agree. Most of you are too scared to **** a sponsor/organization off to be honest about thoughts on some of these issues or they keep quiet hoping that they will get picked next. Not this guy. Id rather have no sponsors or money or friends that rodeo if this is they way its headed. Stand for something or you'll fall for anything. leave your comments or opinions below, share, whatever we can do to let them know that we are aware of the shady practices going on and won't stand for it anymore. it might be too late, but people, you have the power. you buy the rodeo tickets. you watch the nfr. let the PRCA, ERA , Cinch know that you want the best cowboys, no matter what. not "voted in by the board" or "kissed the most sponsor butts" sorry I'm not sorry for the angry, rant/ post. I'm passionate about this sport. It's been great to my family and i want to see it elevate others as well...... but only on their roping merits, not on bull****ting ability or having family on the inside. Love you all.. id ask my fellow contestants to not take this personally, but if you do so be it. Y'all know how to get in touch with me. Thank you for taking the time if you made it this far. | |
