Location: ND | Figured while I'm begging you all to vote on Ollie's pic in the photo contest that I'd catch you up on my world since I'm not on here much anymore. Life has gotten way to busy between horses, the ranch & artwork.
My horse herd has changed a bit in the last year :( I sold my precious Colbee last fall after finding the absolute perfect home for him in TX. One of the hardest decisions I've ever made was clicking submit on the ad with him listed but when I met his knew owner I was totally at peace with my decision & she's become a wonderful addition to my extended family. Before winter set in I also made the awful decision to lay to rest my two beloved broodmares Sophie & Tillie. I miss those 2 old girls & their goofy personalities every day but when it's 20 below & windy I'm so glad they're belly deep in Heaven's grass instead of here fighting the cold. I also sold Pinkie, the bay roan rescue horse many of you remember me getting years ago. He's now in Colorado & very loved by his family.
On the happier side I also added 3 new horses. First being Amber, a buckskin roan broodmare sired by a son of Ciderwood & out of Cow Lady CW who is an ROM earner. She came with a buckskin roan filly that I call Maya who was sired by a son of Von Reminic, this filly is FANCY! Any my last addition for the year was a grulla gelding I call Norman, didn't get to do much with him this fall but next summer should be a lot of fun with him.
The other youngsters are all doing great. KC, Angus & Quigley all turn 5 this year already. Quig is probably making the step up to be my main mounted shooting horse. Bubbles spent last year with my brother & by fall we entered her in a couple shoots. My stud colt, Ruger, turns 4 this year. I abolutely love him & he's everything I'd hoped he'd mature into. Ollie gave me another great summer of shooting carrying me to the ND Women's high point for the 3rd year in a row. But unfotunately at the end of the season he started having some soundness problems & will most likely be retired.
Artwork has been crazy busy so I couldn't be happier with that. Lots of great clients pushing me to try new things & keep improving my work. I even pushed myself this last year & started learning water color!
That's the short version of the last year!

Awww thanks :) He is certainly easy on the eyes, turns a lot of heads every time I take him to a shoot! But in so many ways he's a nightmare. Some day I'll have to write up his whole story. The only other person who's ever loved him found me on FB last summer, she'd been forced to sell most of her horses do to life circumstances & then spent the last 4 years trying to find him again. It started with landing in the kill pen as a 3 year old when his breeders deemed him dangerous & likely to kill someone. I can't totally disagree with them, lol he's a full time project but is so amazingly talented & gorgeous that we've just come to some compromises & work around his issues (pretty sure his looks are what's kept him alive!!!). His former owner wants him back if he does have to retire & said she'd be thrilled to just have him stand in her pasture again.....this horse has to have guardian angels watching out for him!

OMG! I am IN love!! Glad the former owner wants him to have a "forever" home though when the time comes! That is great! |
