We eloped. Had a nice vacation and no debt from a big wedding to deal with. My husband thanks me all the time!

I got re married when my daughter was 5. We had our parents, siblings, grandparents and my daughter. We went to Vegas. Had a nice ceremony with immediate family only. We then had a reception/going away party a week later and had everyone there. It worked out great and no fuss.

My second marriage was both my second and my husband's second.  He has 2 daughters from his previous marriage.  We got married at the courthouse by the JOP with the two of us, his daughters, and our moms.  It was very nice, low stress, and no big budget.  Wouldn't change a thing.  Then we both went to work after getting married.  HAHA  That's just how we roll.

It is my first marriage, his 2nd, he didn't want any big wedding, so we eloped, we were already on vacation. No big fuss or any thing, I didn't necessarily want to do the dress n the big "thing", so it was alright with me!!!

IMHO, sit down with your intended. Discuss if you want a big to-do, quiet ceremony or spend $$ on a wonderful honey moon. Don't worry about what anybody says thinks or does. :)

It was my husband's first and I would have been good with eloping, but he wanted his family and close friends there, so we had a small ceremony at my parents' house during Christmas (so the house was already decorated). There ended up being like 50 guests, but that's because my extended family is big.  A preacher friend of his family officiated, and our siblings were our witnesses.   Dress, food, cake, everything was under $1000.   I requested that my family not do gifts since they had already done it for me the first time.

It was my first marriage but my husband's second. We went Vegas! We invited some friends along. It was what we wanted, but I understand it's not for everyone. I wasn't the big wedding, party planner, bridezilla type and sure as heck didn't want to spend the $$ it costs these days. Do what you and your fiancΓ© are comfortable with, the people that mean the most will understand...and congrats!

Also, we had a small reception back home after farming season...BBQ, beer and a DJ...all we needed.
