Extreme Veteran Posts: 477 Location: Lost in the swamps	Mare just had her hocks injected today. Vet did not mention pain meds.. Only stall for a day, turnout for three then light riding for a week,then back to norm. Expert Posts: 5293	All the times my horses have been injected my vet told me bute for 2 days after injection. 1 gram morning and night. One time vet just gave bute IV before I left and that was it.

Go Your Own Way Posts: 4947 Location: SE KS	have never buted one after having hock injections - just rest for a week and then start working them back up to their normal in shape program "if in shape". but never have we buted after...........

Born not Made Posts: 2937 Location: North Dakota	I've never given bute ahead of time (vet has never told me to do) but always give bute for 3 days after, and no riding for 3 days.
