Mare in my prof picture was a super laid back young thing, then we switched her to alfalfa hay and added essential K and previcox to her feed, and she became a little dragon. It's amazing how much feed can change the energy levels in them.

I agree with the poster to check the feet, pack with magic cushion , try it for Three or four days he maybe thin soled, i had a fwf mare what a work ethic she had dragged her rear,i have always had laidback horses when i work one i do huge circle almost to the point of running off, even in my walk i make them step out almost to the point they are trotting, i do a lot of fast long trotting , not a lot of roll backs in sequence maybe when I'm changing directions, and keep them feeling good four days before a show I'm poulticing legs and packing feet.dmso and furacin is also good. I think a lot of horses want to please us we just need to be vigilant in our care and how we ask.
