I have been running my mare in a fleece hackamore (English hack) because that is what previous owner used on her. I have been having trouble controlling her. As soon as we hit the alley she is gone and I have no control. She won't stop coming out of the alley also. I need help because it is very frustrating. I have been looking at bits such as the PC Futurirt Bit and a Sherry Cervi but I don't know much about what they do. Any tips will be appreciated!

Are you new to barrelracing? How far along is your horse in its training? Not sure what you have been riding in,when i buy a new horse i usually dry work them in an o ring and see where there at and go from there Everyone rides different some have heavey some have light hands, a bit that works at home won't always work in a show environment

I've been barrel racing for about 5 years. I can be light handed if needed and I can be heavy handed. The owner that previously owned her was rough with their riding. I can use the hack at home just not at a show.

If you like her in the hack perhaps try a Jim Warner hack with a little more whoa to it.

Does she work well at home in any bits?

All I've ever used at home is the hackamore. I was *looking* at the Josey Go Around but my friend says not to use it because it's a mechanical disaster and it causes pain. Just one persons opinion. I'm going to try riding her in something light just around but I know for a fact I won't be able to run her in it. She is very foward and a POWERHOUSE.

If it were me I would probably try a clampit hack on her.
