Location: WI | Hi! I'm getting married this fall and want to be TAN, without using a bed if possible. I've gotten spray tans before, but I feel like they don't really give me much color. I'm looking for that Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition tan.
Any tips? |

^^^^ Yes yes yes. My legs are so white they are basically see through. I had to go through the machine twice before I could really tell a difference. Then I had an airbrush done by hand... HOLY SMOKES. You will be Sports Illustrated tan over night. Just follow their instructions about shaving, exfoliating, lotion, etc. to the T, and you will be blown away at the results. |

^^^^ THIS THIS THIS
I've gotten a spray tan a few times over the years for weddings and such and I always go to the same lady who sprays me by hand. She does a wonderful job.
Also, beforehand, you need to exfoliate regularly and also moisturize moisturize moisturize! Rather than repeat, I'll just post the link to the lady I use and her instructions. Following these "rules" makes your tan nicer, and last longer.

Location: Northwest Florida | I had one done when I was younger and it ruined my dress. Well, the inside of it at least. Ever since then I've used a bed. I know it's frowned upon but I love tanning beds.. They work fast and if you went consistently for just a few weeks it would be plenty of time. If you definitely only want the spray, get a human to do it, not a machine. |

| Go to a reputable SPA where a girl sprays it on you by hand. She should work slowly and methodically. I had a KILLER spray tan last year that was super dark. That was the trial run. The time I had it done for the wedding the girl worked fast and I didn't get nearly as dark. Overall, highly highly recommend them. You look incredible and do zero damage to your skin. Also, given proper "set" time, mine didn't wear off onto any of my clothes. It does wear off with excessive rubbing (towel after a shower, etc) but that is a slow process. |

First go around I didn't and it was patchy and looked horrible...all my fault.
Next couple looked good .
Make sure you get a few trail runs done in the upcoming months as well and have some pictures taken so you can see how you look. |

| Do the spray by hand! I loved mine! And do what they tell you to do. It's a little scary at first but by the first shower you look much better. |

I've had several spray tans from a booth, and just one airbrush from a professional. I was really disappointed in the airbrush, I could hardly tell I had anything done and felt like it was a waste of money. Guess I just got a bad one because I've always heard airbrushing is the way to go. |

Location: OH-IO | YES!! Get sprayed by a professional, not a machine... the difference is crazy! No orange, it doesnt rub off on clothes, and mine stayed for like 2 weeks compared to the machine that lasted 2 days!! She took her time and did an awesome job. And once she was done i waited in front of a fan to dry all the way, and went straight home so i didnt have to put any tight undergarmets on (the ladies stayed loose for the rest of the night lol) |

Location: Arkansas | My friend and I used to do spray tans, and you really learn things about folks when you're that up close and personal with them. We had done it for several months when we got a call for an appointment from a man. We both knew him well since we're such a small community, and we were a little apprehensive. After discussing it, we decided to have him come the next day. April was the main one that did the spraying, so she handled the appointment. This guy was very hairy, so of course the tan didn't take too well. We had explained to him beforehand that he was our first male customer and we weren't too sure how it would work; he was fine with that he said. A few weeks later he called to come in again. April mentioned the hair situation and he said not to worry--when he got there and put on his gym shorts he had shaved his body! Tan took much better. Next time he came in, April wasn't there so I was going to do it. I showed him to the back to get in his shorts etc. When I came back a few minutes later, he stepped out from the curtain in Speedos. . . . I turned more than 50 shades of Grey---and THEN he asked about a nude spray. I'm not sure what went through my mind but none of it was delightful I'm pretty sure. I simply told him we weren't that kind of set up and he asked if I was going to tell my daddy about it!! Our "booming" spray tan business came to a screeching halt that day |

Location: Texas | Go to a dermatologist for an airbrushed spray tan.
Although bed tanning will be way more natural looking.. I highly suggest you try bed tanning 3 times and then when it goes away try a spray tan. It's hard to make a spray tan look natural. It IS natural when it's a bed tan. It's just way to easy to mess up a spray tan, especially for your wedding. |

How light-complected are you? Do you tan easily in a bed or natural sun? I'm just wondering because you've said that you have tried spray tanning before but that it didn't give much color and that you're wanting a pretty dark tan. I tan easily and can use products to enhance a tan fairly quickly but my more blonde/red-headed friends with fair complexions have to get more of a base tan (using a bed) before they've been able to keep a spray tan for more than a week and it look more natural.
I have one friend who cannot tan at all -- she's whiter than white and goes from white to red (sunburned) back to white with no color in-between. She has to get a spray tan and while it looks good, it would be a little more natural or blended better if she could keep a slight base tan like her sister does. We all use the same lady who airbrushes -- definitely do that over machine -- and while they both look good, you can tell a slight difference when they stand together. A little base tan can go along way if you can hold one. |
