I had a friend who tried one with her mare who dropped her shoulder pretty bad. It was a quick fix and she got a few runs out of her with it but didn't work for long and the mare went to hitting again.

Lauren explained it how it's not supposed to be a "no hit barrel bit". The mechanics on it are more so it doesn't jerk on the horses moving when you touch it like a snaffle. It's supposed to slide

You could not pay me to use a shank that long with a curb stocking stuffer the cheek. The reason the mare stated above stopped dropping shoulders for a while is because the gag affect is what causes "lift" In a horse. Then she learned how to evade it again... Something that can be fixed by retraining through a snaffle.

I'm a firm believer that more "intense bits" are never the solution, they're an excuse.

ETA I just read this after typing it on my phone and realize it said "curb stocking stuffer" and laughed too hard so now I can't delete it.

One of my friends just got this for his horse and says they both (he and the horse) love it. I have never seen one so can't say.

I am ordering one for a horse that is super picky about everything other than an o-ring...but that wont work in a hack or side pull either.

It has more curve down through the bottom of the shank I think.  I don't have one...gag bits aren't my thing, but I have a friend that has every gag bit made and she had both.

I wonder how that changes the action?  Maybe slows down the bite a little?  I'm not a big gag fan either since I prefer my horses to be in the bridle.  Different strokes for different folks tho...

Mare in my profile picture would be straight as a board if she didn't have gag action. This looks like it would be too much for her, but I like the idea of it.
