Cremello Horse skin care

My questions are probably dumb to some but I really have no idea if their skin care needs are different. Long story short, I am doing what I swore I said I would never do and buy a cremello horse. It is actually a pony and I think it is exactly what we have been searching for, with exception to it's color. Is there anything that needs to be done differently with them? Do they burn? She has two blue eyes so she will have a flymask but what about the rest of her? Does her muzzle need sunscreen?

In my experience, they are no different than any other horse. I have had sorrels with more sun burn related issues than the cremello or perlino. The white areas may be sensitive just the same as any other horse. Mine live outside 24/7 without fly masks and have had no problems. Congrats on your new pony!!!!!

Yes Cremello's need that extra attention. They will sunburn. I had one & she wore a fly mask if she was out during the day & I used a powdered sunscreen "

& it works wonderful. The best thing is turning them out at night & keeping them stalled during the day, but if that doesn't fir your schedule, use the fly mask & sunscreen & put a fly sheet on them. Hope this helped you.

Ours is 15 & we have owned him since birth. No real concerns but he does sunburn. We have quite a few trees so he spends time in the shade. I have noticed that he will burn much worse & faster while tied to the trailer
(reflection
) so we do use sunscreen & mask while traveling. Also, his manly parts have sunburned badly before.

I had one for more than a few years. Never treated him any different than any other horse, never had any trouble. But then again, I live in the frozen North country...maybe having one farther south is different.
