I highly recommend study the pete ramey method- I started doing this method on my gelding who had a terrible time getting a farrier to keep him comfy-
( I honestly believed he would always need shoes
) because he has 4 different feet and several issues 1 of which was showing navicular signs- but within 3 months I and several of my friends have seen a dramatic change in him and I do compete in the 1d and pro rodeo level- it can be done it just takes a little time and effort to really understand whats truly going on in the feet and I can say in45 years of owning training riding etc. imo this is probably the best thing I have ever invested in for my horses -
(spending the time and money on the book and dvd's pete ramey
) I have the 10 disc dvd and the book care and rehabilitation of the equine foot. both of my vets are amazed and have actually called me on occasion about a foot problem they were dealing with because of the difference seen in my horse. one more thing navicular is misdiagnosed quite often and many horses have been put down because of not really understanding what was going on- again I HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend the pete ramey method even if you want to keep shoes
