My late 4 year old
( turning4 in june
) still has a bunch of growing to do and i don't want to push her so for those who have/had late bloomers when do you pattern them? She is very.broke now and headed in the right ddirection. She also can be a little hot so im careful of how much shes pushed.

Depends on what you want her to do. I never really even ride mine much until they're at least a late four, even if they're physically large enough. They go to the pattern at early five and are usually running a few months later, even if slowly and not every weekend. I don't futurity so I'm in no hurry. I like training older horses better and so let them grow up.
I do like to have them really broke and able to spin
(like cowhorses
), neck rein, and doing lead changes, loping big and small circles at different speeds, work straight lines, working off a curb strap, and all that. It might take me a year or two to get them really running hard, but I also know that when I do send them into a pen, they're going to go hunt first barrel no matter how long they've been off.

Thanks that is great advice. Shes definitely broke and i have been just trail riding her and hauling her just to see the sights and sounds. She lopes great both ways, 2 tracks, counter bends etc so i think we are on the right track.
