My Mare is only 14.2 and can turn a barrel. I have one smaller than that also. They both can keep up with the bigger horses. Size don't matter some times. It's about there heart.

I feel like "Babyflo" should be the only answer you need.

He may grow a little more but I there is no reason a small horse can't run barrels and be good at it

Babyflo, Stingray, Movin... all 14.2 and all wicked. I grew up riding little stuff and they all had quite the record.

Height doesn't matter as much as amount of bone. We just bought a 5YO first down french filly, who is probably 14.3? hands? but is a solid solid mare. Not at all worried she won't be able to keep up. I would be more worried about a fine boned horse regardless of height.

I'm 5'9 bringing along a 14.1h cowbred gelding who is a barrel turning SOB. Now we have to see if he wants to run!
He's got a good amount of bone, wears a medium iconoclast in front and could wear a large behind without any trouble.
I felt huge on him at first because my other gelding is 15.3

Completely agree with this! I do not care about size as much as I do bone structure. I actually prefer smaller horses as long as they aren't fine boned.

I like little horses. My made is 15.2 and my tb is not much taller! She just looks taller cause shes thinner and lankier than my qh. I'm 5'1 and like the short horses. They're easier for me to get on ;
