Location: Never in one place long | I bought a rescue horse and was told that I could possible do a test to see if we could track her parents and see if we can get her registered... can anyone give me any advice on how I would do this and cost? I was told it was only $25 but that seems low. |

Location: Kansas | You can pull blood to have DNA done, but you need name of sire/dam in order for AQHA to do anything. If no names, your SOL. sorry. |

Ugh! that lady must have been feeding me a line, I'd never heard of it either so I was surprised, she said oh yeah, it'd be easy to have her registered if you just did the test... If her parents were registered and they showed up maybe?? |

No, AQHA doesn't have the resources to check blood against every sire/dam in the registry. That's millions upon millions of names. They can check if you have a possible sire/dam name, that's the downside. |

Yep, you're right! whoever said that is full of it, they can't do it! Someone told me for $25 you could figure it out. I don't think so! ugh... All I've ever had was registered horses so this is new to me. |
