Location: TX | My husband and I have an own daughter of High Brow Cat.. One of the coolest horses I've been around and we are very fortunate to have her. The hubby heels on her, but we are talking about breeding her while we still can. What have you seen crossed on these mares that will put some size and run into the babies and make a good one? |

Location: In The Land of Cotton | So many ways to answer that. As HBC would be nice to breed for barrels, first you need to set a price on stud fees and the whole price of getting one in foal.
Then ask for suggestions. |

| I doubt there are many crosses on duaghters of High Brow Cat for the barrel pen just because of thier value in the cutting pen. But if I were you, I consider Streaking Ta Fame or some thing along that line. If I had that mare, I'd breed her to my stud as a rope horse prospect. |

| How big is your mare? I bred a cutting mare to Streaking Ta Fame, and LOVE the filly. She is 2 this year, much bigger than the 3 yr old out of the same mare (3yo is a HBC), BUT I would be surprised if she reached 15hh. That being said, the mare we bred was very small. Standing probably right at 14hh. |

| I would breed like to like and stop dreaming of making a barrel horse ... conformations of cutters /reiners and racing bloodlines are totally different.
Track down a palomino stud that is now in east texas that sold for $285,000 at the Carol Rose dispersal sale and stay with the genes it took years of concentrated breeding to set the characteristics for their events ... I can't think of this studs name to save my life ... but you know he is going to be a Spark bred stud ...
I think cutting and reining events are going to start limiting the size of the riders to keep from overloading these tiny short short horses you see competing these days ... (Entry office sign with line drawn on door facing ... You cannot be taller than this line to enter) ..lol

I think a Cutting mare bred run is a fantastic cross, DREAM away of making a barrel horse, because you will get one.
All I bred are my cutting mares to run, works very well ;-) |

| I don't have a HBC mare, I have a peptoboonsmal / freckles play boy GDs But they are very nice bred to run / barrel stallions,
My spoonful mare had a colt by a Dash ta Fame stallion this year, he is so nice, born running great strong LONG legs, and sweet as pie to be around.
My other mare was open this year but her yearling I had last year is also very nice, she was by a dashing cleat stallion, just so athletic built right and easy easy easy to be around and work with.
I hold a ton of value on a nice cutting / cow breed mare, that is the best cross for me personally, I do have a racebreed mare, but she is young so not even considering breeding her, but If I did I would highly consider taking her to a cutting bred stallion. Breding is never a guarantie, I mean race bred to race bred can be turtle like slow, it happens, but I have been very luck and blessed with my mares and foals. They have all the right tools, now just waiting to see what they do when they get the the barrel pen.
Here are a few pictures of my foals, I think they are very nice prospects, and they sell fast and easily. 2016 stud colt (4 days old in these pictures)

| I would try to breed to Dash Ta Fame, Streak of Fling, any of the top 5 barrel stallions. |

I think his name was A Shiner Named Sioux . Just checked that is his name. He is at stud too. Aaron Ranch stands him for 1250

| My vote would definitely be A Streak of Fling. That would be one cool cross! |
