| I have two horses and I ride them with two different saddles. I spent three days at a clinic on one of my horses, rode my butt off and no pain. Yesterday I rode both horses (not for very long), worked the pattern with the one I did not take to the clinic and today I can hardly move! I know is not the horse as I can ride him bareback for hours!
Any opinions? Has anyone have this happening to them? |

Location: SE Louisiana | Stepping off a curb wrong can screw up your back... Usually you know when it happens, even if it takes a while to start hurting. I knew something bad had happened the instant that appy mare dropped her weight on me when when I was trimming her left front... I didn't know that starting the next morning I would not walk for a year... But I KNEW!!!! Something bad had happened... |

Location: on the fine line between insanity and geniusness | Yes!!! I had a bad truck accident almost six years ago that did a significant amount of damage to my spine. I sold all of my saddles and went through SEVERAL before I found what I could ride with little pain. Even now, I ride two different saddles depending on the horse and how they run. |

| Several things could cause back pain. A crooked tree, stirrups that are hung too far back, a seat that is too small that will not allow you to get your feet under you or forward. You will notice these problems more if you have been riding in a saddle that fits you better. |

Location: Stuck in a cubicle having tropical thoughts | Years ago I had a Circly Y, one of the NBHA editions, and I could only sit in that thing for maybe 20 minutes before my lower back, hips and knees started hurting. I got a Triple Creek, because it's what I could afford, and it helped with the pain. Then I got a Reinsman and it was like comparing getting a Cadillac. I LOVED riding in that saddle and my back pain was gone, but unfortunetly it was to wide for every horse I put it on. When I realized the saddle was two wide and making my mare buck, I went back to the Triple Creek while waiting on a CorrecTor saddle pad, and it was like dropping off the Cadillac at the shop and getting a Grand Am as a loaner. I couldn't wait to get my butt back in the Reinsman. Now I've given the Triple Creek to my mom, sold the Reinsman and CorrecTor and I have a Martin Crown C. I LOVE my Martin and I can ride for hours without back pain. |

Absolutely it can. If it has your feet/legs and hips at the wrong angle it can been a wreck |

| YES YES & YES. Many years ago I was talked into riding in a treeless saddle. First off, I have lower back problems due to a fall on the ice long before I started barrel racing. That 5 inch cantle wacked my back as the horse I competed on was a horse who worked more off his front end rather than his rear end so I got jarred. Loved him anyway. We won a lot together :) The sports saddle also made my horses back sore. Anyway I sold that sports saddle & got a regular barrel saddle with a 4 inch cantle & never had a sore back again. Neither did my horse. Now I have recently had a 4 1/2 cantle saddle made for me & it is wonderful, but that 5 inch cantle, no good for me. |

| Absolutely!!! I bought a brand new bob marshall, just with a lower pommel on the front. I had back pain that night after I rode in it. It was SO obvious when I used it and when I didnt. I have 1 other BM and a Fischer and neither of them have bothered my back. So I ended up selling it. Never had any problems with different tree'd saddles though

| Thanks for the replies guys, I was wondering if I was going crazy!
Just curious, what brand of saddle you guys ride? Which ones do you find the most comfortable for you and your horse? ( I know, everyone is going to have a different likes and dislikes but I am still curious)

Location: texas | i prefer bob marshall sports saddle, not the circle y, the genuine.....
its soft, comfortable, light, easy to lift, no bars to sore up the horses....
been riding it since the late 90's.............. |

Location: Texas | Definitely. I can't ride one of my horses in my new double j pozzi or my back kills me. If I put my Caldwell on him it's like riding on a couch. On other horses my double j is just as good as the Caldwell is on that horse. |

| Yep it sure can. I've rode in my Crown C for about a year now and never had any issues until I put it on my new horse. It doesn't fit him quite right and I can feel myself compensating for that which in turn makes my back hurt. |
