Location: Nebraska | CYA Ranch - 2016-05-05 10:19 AM Last year I spent a lot of time visiting with the LEC grounds crew. (waiting for them to pull my truck out of a sink hole) They told me that the LEC was going to add on more buildings (stalls) and a coliseum that was going to be done in phases. Everyones answer to barrel races is "move it south everything is better in the south" I call BS. There's a lot of northern girls that can't/won't make that trip south. Renae does a bang up job putting her events on and puts up with a lot of complainers.
they've already done a lot of work (the white fence, cement lot, redoing the concession stands). I hope they do add more stuff. I live 20 min away and would love to have more stuff so close. The ground there is wonderful and it's nice to have the 3 arenas! |

Location: Viola, IL | First timer for the BRF, and may be coming alone. Any suggestions or things to be prepared for? How's parking, I have a big trailer and may need help getting it parked if it's tight spacing. Do you have to have electric or can you run a generator? Only running Friday open, Bonus Saturday morning. |

rodeowithjoker - 2016-05-02 9:48 AM I entered the Thursday sessions - 3 horses in the open and 2 in the bonus race. Â My plan is to leave after my Thursday night runs and hit rodeos Friday and Saturday nights, though I suppose if I win any additional qualifiers and feel the urge, I could go back up Sunday and late enter in the bonus race. I'm hoping my draws get split up in the running order since I am probably going up alone and won't have help getting horses ready & cooled out.
Oh my! You'll be one busy gal!  I'm not running on Thursday, so if you need help, let me know. I'm not exactly sure when I'll get there, but I know we'd be there by the evening session. Â
Did u buy stalls? |

This is my 3rd trip. First year a bunch of us rented campsites. Last year I rented a campsite and proceeded to bury my semi and trailer. Nice guys pulled me out with a tractor and I found a nice dry paved lot and ran my generator. Renea Bolling is the bomb diggity and reimbursed me my camping money. This year I'm just planning on finding a nice dry paved lot and running my generator again. |

The year I went last we had rain and they ended up pulling a lot of people out of the campground with a tractor.
I'm taking a generator and parking on pavement, but there was plenty of room to do so last time I was there. |

| Looks like there is one spot left for camping. Doesn't look like the Open race is filling up. I'm ok with that! Better chance to win some $$....as if...with 1800+ entries. lol |

MObrlrcr - 2016-05-03 11:17 AM I was thinking that also....wonder why they couldn't have it at OKC? They have a large enough facility, I think, that could accommodate that many people/horses. The BBR never has an issue with stalls.
At the beginning this was mainly an upper midwest show. It bled into Colorado and OK when Renea moved to OK. There are very few southern events.  She did make the Regional event in AR.  There aren't very many events to the east and it doesn't go very far west. Â
This year it seems that it's too big for it's britches.  We shall see what happens in the future.   I know there are A LOT of folks up here that won't make a trip to OKC for BBR or GA for NBHA worlds due to the distance. She was trying to make it for those folks.Â
Heck if I qualified I'd make the trip to OKC in a heartbeat. It's really not that far considering LEC is a little over 5 hours from SE Iowa and only 9 hours to OKC. At that point, what's another couple of hours. But that's me and traveling like that is no big deal. Heck I used to go over 10 hours just to trail ride on vacations before. |

I'm actually kind of surprised that the open race hasn't filled up yet. That entry fee is really reasonable for the added money. I just don't like small pens enough to enter all my horses twice. Heck I have 4 horses and only entered 3 runs! I figured that way I have wiggle room if one horse gets hurt or if the oldie has to retire. |

I agree. I thought it would fill up with anyone being able to enter. |

I have to wonder if the stall sellout is a factor. |

Probably, but if I lived within an hour, I'd probably be entering. But some people think $40 is too much period. If it fills, 2100 entries is A LOT.
Not sure how many they pay. Say 30 each division. 150/2100 is a 7% chance of winning something. So those odds aren't that great either. lol |

Mrs. Troy
Location: western Nebraska | I entered three horses. My best horse that won 3rd in the 1d last year is hurt and out. My 2nd best horse just went to the vet today and is probably out. So I now have one horse that has been a little and two 5 year olds that have been to just a couple jackpots. Too late to get my money back so I am going to have to decide whether to spend more in gas and the three days or just forfeit my fees. |

If nothing else it'll be a great experience for the 5 year olds and may end up helping you choose which one is going to "make it." Also, that's what the 5D is for. :) |
