Are there any companies that insure horses older than 18?

I think most of them do, it will just cost out the wa-zoo, which is why I have always dropped mine when they turn 15 - hated to but the premiums were WAAAAAAAY too high.

I used Horse Insurance Specialists and Ark Agency (had to switch due to moving states), and yes the premium is higher on the older horses.

It's crazy expensive to insure them when they get past 15. It's sad. They still have several years of useful life.

Anything over 16 and it's like 8.5%! I have a 17 yr old that had to have surgery and went ahead and insured her mortality only for a year so if anything happens I didn't waste all that money but holy moly it is expensive!!!!
