Location: Somewhere around here | Have you ever traded horse before? What went into the idea that trading your horse was ok and what you wanted? Anyone ever do a partial trade where someone paid a little for the other horse? Tell us about your trading experiences; the good, the bad, and the ugly! |

Location: Kansas | I did a partial trade on a nice mare I had that was clocking 1D locally for a nicely bred gelding that was "broke".....the lady lied through her teeth and that gelding stepped off the trailer skin and bones, and psychotic. I hauled 5 hours one way to meet this lady, NEVER AGAIN. |

Location: Where the buffalo roam | I traded a gelding I had that was a great horse, but would run up the fence at the first barrel in competition (turned out he hated barrels and became a great rope horse). I traded straight across for a 2 year old mare, but I did this with someone that I knew very well and trusted and it was a sight unseen trade. It worked out great for both of us as I later sold the filly for a decent price and she soldl the horse I traded her to a roper the day after she got him. It was a win/win. I would be just as particular doing a trade as I would be if I was I was purchasing a horse. |

Location: North Dakota | The first time I traded horses, I traded a 10 year old gelding that would buck if left off more than a day. I traded for a 13.1 hand appy that would turn in front of the barrel if you didn't push him hard past the barrel. He was a fantastic little horse, ugly, but would win and he had a heart of gold. I have never been cheated on a trade and have traded about 5 times over the years. I have however been cheated very bad twice in the past three years with direct purchases. I got a mare off of here and she was lame within 24 hours of getting her home, my mistake for trusting a beloved pro in the barrel racing field. And I purchased a mare sold to me as a bombproof kids horse, I even tried her at a show and she was a huge dead head, but the medication wore off the next day and she was a dangerous nut. They hung up on me when I called so I knew I had been cheated! Sent her to a trainer and he said she was very dangerous and I would be better off taking her to auction which is what I did! When I trade I always try the other horse first and they try mine that way everyone is happy! |

Location: Canada | I've done a couple cash plus trades and both parties have been happy with the trade. Just make sure you do your homework on the other horse and vet check! |

| I had a paint gelding, He would rear up around every barrel. I saw a mare for sale at a barrel race. I told the gal about my gelding. I traded him plus $1000 and it was the best trade ever. I won a lot on that mare and the gal turned the paint gelding into a nice rope horse for her son. It was a win-win. |

| Iv done several trades and ended up happy every time. You dont treat it any different than if you had cash and you wanted the other horse. The only difference is sometimes you can get even better deals if you are trading horse for horse since there is no money involved. Actually makes the process easier in my opinion. |
