So my mare I'm pretty sure is a bleeder after this weekend. Would like to get her on a supplement besides doing lasix. Does anyone have experience with finish line's xbl or bleeder stop or how they compare? I want to try this and hopefully not have to lasix as often? Thanks in advance

Have the horse scoped. Why do you think it bled? Month off and antibiotics.

Well, here's the deal. Studies show that 80% of horses that do what barrel horses or race horses do, bleed. Those same studys showed 99% improvement when given lasix. The lasix lowers the blood pressure allowing the vessels to not rupture when under intense pressure (a run). When they do bleed, it takes 2 weeks of rest for the vessels to be considered healed. So, i don't know if there are any proven studies with the powders or the patches, but there is many proven studies with lasix. I wouldn't try to reinvent the wheel when it comes to bleeding. When they bleed, it is like they are drowning. And that to me is way more "inhumane" then giving a shot of lasix!

Agree, over the years I tried many supplements and none helped my bleeder.  I had him scoped every time I tried to run without lasix and although I did not see blood he still bled.  Edited to add I paste with an electrolyte after giving lasix.

Do not give electrolytes right after you lasix before a run or while you with hold water. Horses should have access to water when ever they are given electrolytes. I give my electrolytes after my horse is cooled out after my run and they are back drinking...

WSB is correct, I also give electrolytes after the run, cooled off and after he has been watered, not before the run.
