I used one on a horse that ran faster than I could ride. turned faster too. You can come out pretty easy. I'd forget sometimes and get off the horse without taking them off my legs. As some have mentioned with a kid that weighs 50 lbs may be an issue, but I weight quite a bit more than 50 lbs! Ha. What scares me more than that is rubber bands. I watched someone get caught up with being unseated, but not falling off, and she couldn't get her feet out of the stirrups to get out of the horses way. It was a wreck.

I haven't needed to use the rubber bands. My feet stay put. But he has so much torque and I'm small that my butt doesn't always stay put! He hasn't lost me yet but I feel if it helped me keep my seat when he goes into overdrive we'd have a better pattern.

I say go for it. If Martha Josey can go to the NFR in a magic seat....well let's do it.

If you got your barrel horse news yesterday, the young man on the cover is riding with a Magic Seat. If you can't beat them join them.

I sold mine after 3 days because 1) it doesn't work on my Tammy tireless and 2) I was too strong for it. I could post right out of it and I felt that it was not nearly "sticky" enough. I am 5'5, 115 lbs and I have a super powerful horse so I was really hoping it worked. I practice holding my core really tightly or hold the horn instead.
