I am looking to purchase a filly when she is weaned in September iboard and have two other horses (my daughters barrel gelding and my mare)   The facility is safe for a weanling.  I have concerns I can give enough of my time.  Would 3-5 days a week of me handling her be enough?  She'll be on the same routine as the other horses with feeding twice a day.  I don't want to over commit or scare myself out of doing something I've wanted to do for a long time.  Opinions on boarding weanlings? How much handling do you typically do with babies?

In my opinion the more you can mess with them the better.  3-5 days a week is more than most are probably able to do.

3-5 days of hands on is more than most get as a weanling or yearling. That should be fine. Just be sure she gets plenty of turn out. I wouldn't want a growing foal cooped up in a stall for any amount of time...

Mine are currently out 24/7 unless weather doesn't allow it.

as long as they get turn out i wouldn't be worried about the amount you are handling. we pet on ours daily and check them over for scrapes and cuts but I don't do a ton of work with them right now. The thing that would be bad for her is to be stalled up and bored. As long as that doesn't happen I wouldn't be worried!
