| I just bought 4 bottles of Pentosan Platinum and the instructions are a little confusing. Can anyone help me out? It is my understanding that you are suppose to give the entire bottle IV, once a week for four weeks. Is that correct? Thanks

Correct. Its a single dose vial/IV. I tried it to and it worked, just didnt work any BETTER than the pentosan gold so I just stayed with that. At the time the Gold was IM. Now bottles are saying IV for the Gold to. |

| If the bottles you got are 18ml, then no you should give the entire bottle! A dose of pentosan is only 6ml. You should have 3 doses in that bottle. |

Different concentration in the Platinum and bottle says on it SINGLE USE. NOT multi dose. Which means, once that seal is broken there is no preservative to keep the remaining product fresh. Now if you had 3 horses and gave them each 6 thats OK, but once its pierced, its DONE.
The Platinum is only 183mg of Pentosan per ml, the Gold and Regular formula is 250mg/ml

Location: TN | I have used them in the past with no problems but the last bottle of flunixin is yellow not clear batch 012616 exp 01/18 I am afraid to use it. A few months ago some folks on this board were reporting reactions to their pentosan. I am afraid to use it.  |

The pentosan platinum from racehorsemeds says this: Composition: Contains: Sodium pentosan polysulfate 250mg/ml, glucosamine 150mg/ml, hyaluronic acid 2.5mg/ml
So, do I give 6ml or 18ml? Dosage and Administraion: Administer 6-18ml by intravenous injection as directed by a veterinary surgeon.

My vet said after loading dose of 2 ml for 4 days to give 2 ml once a month IM. |

If you are getting the horse prerace stuff for an average horse the Dose is 5-6ml per dose. 2ml is really tiny ineffective dose BUT thats only for prerace stuff. If your vet provided you with a higher concentration then go with what they say. Actually, do what they say anyway. lol But normally the dose of pentosan gold is 5-6ml once a week for 4 weeks then Monthly. |

I would do what the bottle says. Or just make a quick call to the vet and see what they say. If its sterile it shouldnt matter but might not work as well one way or the other. |

Location: Warsaw,NY | anyone ever have their horse allergic to pentosan? I gave first dose sunday night, instant agitation, frustration and all over body hives. Now this was a compounded formula my vet had gotten, so idk if there is a difference or not.
