So last night something ran my 2 yr old mare through the fence and in to the pasture with our bred mares and my stallion who is the 2 yr olds daddy. When I went out to feed I saw him breeding her. Can I give her lutalyse as like a "plan b" or do I need to get something else and if I can what dose and how many shots?
TIA

Yes but call your vet for dosage etc.

Just a thought. Instead of giving her lutalise, in 16 days have her ultrasound. If she isn't bred, great. If she is, have your vet pinch off the embryo. Best thing though is to talk to your vet & see what he suggests.

Definitely check with your vet. You have to wait a certain amount of time before giving the lutalyse for it to be effective in aborting a pregnancy. And it might be in your best interest to schedule an ultrasound at 13-14 days just in case.

IF she is confirmed in foal the vet can do a simple procedure to pinch it off.

Make sure you give it in the number of days after breeding for it to be effective. If you give it now it won't work. I have a 4 year old in my barn that the mare was given lutalyse right after breeding. Obviously it didn't work!

No need to talk to your vet or spend money have her palpated. Wait 5 days after she is out of season and give 3cc of lutalyse or if you can use estrumate, it's a lot easier on them
(no sweats or diarrhea
). Even if she isn't bred it won't hurt her.
We breed/ship to about 200 mares a year and have been doing this for a long time. If you feel safer taking her to the vet go for it but really it isn't necessary,
