If you dont mind me asking, are you younger than 18?
If you told the girl to move several times and she didnt it was a hard lesson learned for her. I hate she got hurt but you have to have respect for these animals. You tried to warn her. Hopefully you can get someone that saw it to speak up about you telling her to move. Do not lay down and let them ban you without presenting your full side of the story. Â
I'm sixteen, and thank you for the advice.

You are 16 and the father of the kid had the nerve to talk to you that way? Where was he when his errant offspring was loitering in the alley where she didn't belong? It's HIS fault she got hurt if he wasn't keeping an eye on her and hadn't taught her any better than that. Good grief.
No way should you or your horse be banned.

You sound like a good kid, the girl in the ally needs to apologize to you as well as her daddy.

This is my biggest pet peeve. I refuse to run until people get out of the way, the announcer can call me all they want but I'm not moving until I have a clear shot. Saying that, I have a younger cousin that runs with me and would have done the same in your situation. She will ask people to move nicely, and if they don't listen I know she would just go if she felt like she could make it, just like you did!
Totally not your fault and that producer should have been aware of what was going on IF they were paying attention to you, like they should have been. I've been on the producing end and am always making sure there is no foot traffic as much as I can....because of instances just like this!

In hindsight it would have been best to refuse to run until alley was clear but it is the producer's responsibility to see that it is clear and not yours. It's not something you should have to worry about when you're going into the alley you should be able to concentrate on your run. I was at a rodeo once when a man was standing in the entry to the alley and yelled at me about having a crazy barrel horse when I was going in to make my run. I pulled her up because he'd already ruined my concentration and her forward motion by having to go around him. I went back and told him I paid my money so I own that particular piece of real estate for that specific time and he had no business being in it. I hate being that way but in my opinion that man owed me $65.00. Made me want to decide that I'm only stopping for a kid from now on and if adults are that dumb they can suffer the consequences. Common sense tells you if you play in the street you're going to get hit by a car. I also agree with the previous poster about the entitlement kids seem to be raised with these days.
