Looking for thoughts on what to charge someone for hauling them to shows with me.  In the past with friends we split fuel 50/50 and take turns taking each others trucks/trailers.  This friend doesn't have a truck/trailer so I am the only means of transport for them to shows.  I don't mind hauling them as I'm going anyway and have room and splitting fuel helps but I do have truck upkeep, payments, insurance etc. so 50/50 doesn't seem quite right to me.  Thoughts?  How do you all handle these situations?  As I said I am going regardless and enjoy the company but I am paying for the truck/trailer and associated costs with owning them.  Looking for insight on what to charge above fuel if at all.  Thanks

I could not ask for more money to haul someone with me to a barrel race, I would just ask for them to pay half the gas, but then theres been lots of times I just haul someone that needed a ride and didnt expect for them to pay for gas, just enjoyed the company. So to me split the gas. Even when we haul out of town we just split the gas. How far out of the way is it for you to go pick them up?

Half the gas is such a great deal for the one without a rig. especially if you have to go out of your way to get them. There are so many things that go with being the one that supplies the rig. Who cleans the trailer and buys the shavings? who cleans out the water jugs and refills? washes the truck? then there is the maintence on truck and trailer. my truck is almost exclusively used to trailer. If this person is always going with you then i think they should help pay some for maintence and help you with the cleaning.
i sometimes have a gal that rides with me to help me. she pays nothing and i buy her dinner after. really it just depends on the situation. If a freind is having a hard time with finances then she may just have to help clean and supply the icebox and drinks and maybe the sandwiches and i cover the fuel and the rest
