| I have used them on puncture wounds and the swelling that comes with puncture wounds. They worked great. I really like the Young Living's Animal Scents wound salve. |

I've not used one specifically for a cranky mare, however you can try fennel, peppermint, anise and ginger to help with GI issues. Add helichrysm to heal the scarring that can occur with ulcers. Don't be alarmed if you have sweeling in the mammmary glands and if your mare bags up-that's common when giving fennel. Fennel is great on mares that don't produce enough milk. |

Curious if you dilute with a carrier oil first? And if so, how much? |

| I have used them but not for a mare. My horses were diagnosed with cicatrix, a condition that is a reaction from something in grass that causes pharynx to swell, develops scar tissue till eventfully restricts breathing. I gave them a vaccine that works on some horses but not all. I also did living young essential oils on my main horse, he received 3 months of treatments. All my horses healed at the same rate so I don't know if the oils can really do anything internally. I did not see a difference with the one who got them and the others who did not. For wounds, breathing for calming a horse, etc they may work great.

I don't use a carrier for lavender. If I use peppermint I do. |

Location: The best kept secret in TX | I use Doterra. Deep Blue rub is the bomb diggity when massaging my pony! I use Lavender and a few other mixes on him for stress. I also use Melaluca and Terra Shield. Melaluca is for wounds and scratches and Terra Shield is what I use for bug spray. WAY cheaper and works a lot better. I use coconut oil (Fractionated) for a dilute. ALWAYS dilute oils. It's better on their skin to dilute.

Location: Wherever They Send Me | I also use Doterra...
I mix lavender and peppermint with water and put it on them after we work hard. I've also used Balance on my wrists and my mare's chest before a run.
I like to have them tell me which ones they like/want...kinda a cool process. |

| We use them on our horses, however you need to keep an eye on them to make sure the oils do not irritate the skin. My mare cannot handle having oils used on her, even with a carrier, more than once or twice a month if that. Her skin is so sensitive that it actually causes her to lose her hair. She is the only horse in the barn that is like this, none of the other horses we use the oils on have that reaction. So I would use lightly at first and keep an eye on them/their skin. |

Location: Bastrop, Texas | I wish I could remember the Essential oil my wife puts on me for insect repellent. It worked fine, but made me nauseous. Maybe you need to combine it with another oil to detoxify it and eliminating that side effect. |
