Location: North of where I want to be | I agree with branding and I disagree with it; here is why.....I agree with breeders branding their horses. I agree with having a form of identifying your animals should they get lost. I get all of that. I DO NOT like "trainers" who brand everything that walks through their barn . I have a very nice gelding that came from a well know ranch that carries their brand, and now also carries a brand that NO ONE outside our area knows because the trainer branded him. ITS HUGE and it annoys the life out of me. I also ride a horse who has 4 brands on him, all came from the original ranch and I am not a huge fan of that either. No it doesn't change how these horses ride but it does change how the are percieved. I see Mighty Broke's brand I know chances are that horse has mad skills, and a world of time and devotion on the breeders part put into bringing that horse to life. |

It sure could. |

Location: Florida | I consider brands useful to identify a horse if it has been stolen, other than that, never think about them. A horse doesn't run on it's looks. |

Location: North of where I want to be | I think that commentary could go tothe different strokes for different folks. Not every breeder puts the time and commitment into producing a quality animal that others do. Frankly after my experience with I will pass up the hi production ranch's prospect for a small personal operations prospect any day. And there are trainers out there who are branding and who have a "style" that doesn't work for me.....I see those brands I keep looking. Just a thought. |

| No, they don't really bother me. The only time I hate them is when they're super big. Horses ARE NOT bill boards.
I had one that I bought hair dye and kept it dyed (freeze brand), because it literally covered his entire left hind and distracted from what a cool horse he was.
No need for too big. |
