Location: Okla | I have dealt with this all summer long, everything I've read, my horse shoer , vet all say treat it with Benadine daily. It clears up then starts all over again. I really dont want to pen him up at nights and not turn him out until after the dew is gone, but may end up having to. Anybody else having this problem,?? I've got numerous horses but only 2 have this problem. And if I don't treat him daily, full blown thrush comes.... |

| Are you talking about the white on their nose getting sores? That's what we call dew poisoning around here? I use Neosporin. Or else A&D ointment(cheaper, in a big tube). Really any kind of ointment. Put it on one time and it makes it go away, and shouldn't come back. |

Location: Okla | No, it is the beginning of thrush in their hoofs, caused by nightly dew |

interesting.... I have a horse in the pasture and his feet are looking back .. never thought of dew poisoning... I've only known that to be on their noses |

Location: South | I believe I know what you are talking about. I had a mare last year or the year before last can't remember. She started out with thrush and it went up her leg. Started in the beginning of spring or after we got a lot of rain. Was a nightmare to deal with. I kept her up in the barn for about 4 weeks. Thrush buster twice a day, my farrier told me to put water babies on her leg to reduce skin irritations/swelling, and did a round of Uniprim. It was an uphill battle until I started the round of Uniprim, that knocked it out.

Location: LuluLand~along I64 Indiana | i have had a nightmare of hoof issues this year. recessed soles. thrush, thrush and more thrush.... abcess and bad walls. the bad walls now are a by product of the recessed soles from earlier this year. the thrush has been ongoing because we have had wet conditions all year. Im sick of dr horses feet and my shoer is sick of me rerouting his schedule.
the only thing that is giving me any reprieve is i ordered some high strenght iodine off ebay in CA. im sure im on a drug watch list now but i dont care. a few drops sure has gone a long way into helping. |
