| Many of us pray once and immediately get angry with God when He doesn't give us what we pray for.
Not Jacob; he held on to what he knew God had for him at the end of his labor. He had his eyes set n his blessing and wouldn't let go until he had it. This event in Jacob's life came after a king battle for the woman of his dreams. He had idle gently worked for his wife Rachel for a total of fourteen years. He had hope and expectations behind his efforts. But here we see Jacob once again in the midst of a battle but is one was not a battle of the flesh and blood. He is contending with the supernatural. Jacob had been taught by the fathers of past generations ( Abraham and Isaac) about the power and provision of the one true God. He knew that as he came in contact with Him he had an open invitation. To request a blessed. And what a blessing he got.
So He said to him" what is your name?" And he said , " Jacob". And He said, Yรดur name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men and prevailed." Then Jacob asked, " Tell me, Yรดur name, I pray ". And He said, " Why is it that you ask about My name?" And He blessed him there. And Jacob called the name of the place Peniel: " For I have seen God face to face, and my life is perserved." Genesis 32:27-30
Not only did Jacob come face to face with God, but because he asked, he was also blessed with a new name, purpose, future, and destiney. His whole identity was changed. Jacob experienced what is called a bonanza or a " suddenly" of God. He was instantly taken from being a second Esau, having no inheritance of his own, to be blessed spiritually with an eternal birthright full of riches of the kindpgsom of God.
That is what God wants to do for you when you come to Him for a blessing. He wants to give you more than what you lasted for because He is good and because He knows how to give good gifts to His children. What you ask Him is only the start of what He wants to do in your life.
I am reminded by the song of Garth Brooks, Thank You for unanswered prayers.
As tears roll down my face I feel the presence of God, and THANK Him for some of the unanswered prayers. At one time in my life I was in a dark place. I ask God to take me from this life. I was broken emotionally, spiritually and physically. Instead of dying He gave me life. He gave me a purpose to live. I got cancer, and it totally changed my perspective , to live for my spirit ,my soul, and my mind and body will follow in healing. I asked God to heal me of cancer, and then guide me to be a vessel for Him the rest of the days of my life on earth. I started a prayer warrior circle on ebarrelracing.com and started posting my daily journey with Jesus on this BHW board. I share at barrel races doing church services. It has been 12 years since I am cancer free. Lord God had a plan when I had none. I carried the scars of a abusive marriage, God gave me the man of my dreams 18 years ago. We have been debt free for 3 years. I am 63 years old this year and still riding 5 horses a day. BLESSED YES! I AM BLESSED! God may not answer your prayers the way you want them, but He will give you MORE than you asked for. DONT GIVE UP HOPE!
FAITH, is worshipping God, the more you ask God for His relationship with you, the more faith you have, then you know that you know. ALL IS WELL WITH MY SOUL.
For it is WITH God ALL things are possible
Have a BLESSED WEDNESDAY!
