She has an app with Dr Hague next week at oakridge. She has not been on him at all. She did talk to Dr Hague briefly about it and he thinks it is a pain issue....but told her he would explore every avenue to find what is wrong. He never mentioned EPM or WEST NILE . she is just worried. Dr Hague also told her to stay off him.

I hope it is not serious either. He is a nice horse and she is a good friend. She is making herself sick worrying.

First of all I would tell her to stop asking everyone for advice. All that does is cause unnecessary worry. There obviously is some kid of pain and it could be anything from headctontail. Let the vet evaluate the horse.

Well this horse has never done this and he has never refused to work until now.

Some people just worry. What is headctontail? She will let the vet evaluate her horse. I'm worried for her....she just wanted to know if anyone had experienced this with their gelding.

Head to tail......darn tablet. Years ago, there were a lot of horse that pee'd when they ran. This was way before anyone realized what serious soreness issues our horses had.

Bless her heart---I'm a big big worrywart too. If one of mine gets a bump, before the day is over I've self diagnosed them with the worst possible disease and outcome. My family tells me to stay off Google and don't kill them off because they have a scratch on their tail. So I feel for her--prayers it is nothing serious and is an easy fix. Please keep us updated.

Thank you Chandler's Mom! She can't help that she is worried. I worry like that also. My mom always said"Don't paint black pictures". Thank you for the kind words and prayers . I think she just has that "helpless" feeling. I think she has worn google out.

We just had to have a tumor removed from Luca's (my Siberian Husky) leg, and I got on Google and found just what I thought it was by symptoms and looks---of course it was the worst possible thing he could have with a bleak outcome. When I called my vet for reassurance (the lab didn't even have the sample to test yet) he told me to calm down and quite asking "Dr Google" for his diagnosis!!! Thank the good Lord the tumor was benign and Dr Nordan got the whole thing. So tell your friend that even if it looks bad on Google, that doesn't make it so!! Keeping her and her gelding in my prayers.

Google is a blessing and a curse...when CC passed the blood in her urine in 2014 I knew she hadn't tied up, she never moved stiff and the blood was bright red very little urine at all. Got on the computer and started doing research, found tie up, bladder infections and stones as a cause of blood in the urine. I check off the tie up and I checked off the bladder infection because she had urinated 40 minutes after we got home and it was clear again..now any of us who've had a UTI know unless you are taking something for the UTI that doesnt' happen. We had treated her immediately after the episode like it was a tie up even though we all kind of knew it wasn't. Dave wanted me to put her on antibiotics but I just knew in my gut what I was dealing with then, not to the extent we found out later but I'm glad I took the information seriously and didnt' waste another few months trying to convince myself it wasn't stones.
Hoping this is a pain issue and its a simply fix for her sake and the horse's.

Thanks everyone for the concerns and prayers. Appointment in tomarrow at ten with Dr Hague. The gelding is the picture of health and is eating and drinking fine. My friend looks like hell from worry...she looks like the sick one. I feel bad for her because I know its hard not to worry. I'm going with her tomarrow. Prayers would be much appreciated.

Has the horse had ACE lately?

If bladder infection/stones are ruled out and the horse has had ACE lately

ACE can cause permanent penile problems in geldings. I would ask the vet if this is a possibility, only after the other has been rules out.
