Warrior Mom Posts: 4400	In horses? I recently switched my horses from a 12/10 feed to a 14/8 feed, and the amount they are sweating has drastically increased. Granted it's very hot and humid lately but they are drenched in sweat just being turned out in the pasture standing around. They have a round bale but have mostly been grazing on the pasture.

Sock Snob Posts: 3021	I say if where two percent fat, I would say yes, I was told long ago 10 percent protein is enough unless it is a old horse. Fat makes a big difference.

If you are feeding at a high rate, then yes, it could cause them to sweat more. Something about energy used to convert protein raises body temp? I've been hearing about a lot of people seeing their horses sweat more lately tho because the humidity has been higher than normal. It's like that all the time here.

They only get 3lbs a day right now so not very much at all. I guess it's probably just the weather. People keep asking me if I sprayed them off because they are that wet! Where is this Fall I keep hearing about?! Obviously running late. I picked up some persimmons this morning and cut the seeds. They were spoons and knives, so winter should be nice and cold and snowy.
