Question about keeping a horse under lights

Question for those that are familiar with keeping a horse under lights to keep winter hair away. I board at a place and I am able to keep my main riding horse under lights so that she doesn't get too wooly. I brought her in kinda late this year to be under lights, so she already has some winter hair. She didn't get put under lights till the 10th or so of October. Well now things aren't good at this current boarding barn
(I've been here for 10+ years but things are good anymore
) and I am thinking I need to move barns. She has been under lights 5 weeks so far... thinking I should turn off her light so she doesn't continue because where ever I go next I probably won't be able to afford indoor board so she will need hair. Although were ever I take her I would blanket her on outdoor board.
She does have winter hair right now so I am wondering if I take her out from under lights will it effect her down the road??
I've been told it takes 3 months for lights to effect them into shedding or growing hair, not sure if I have the correct info. She has not shed out any hair that she has yet so hoping I am safe to turn off her light and move her to a different barn as soon as I can...
