How do y'all keep your round bale dust down for your bleeders? I know with square bales you can wet it down, but will I seriously have to go out daily and wet down the round bale?
Just trying to get some tips since round bale "season" is approaching quickly.
Thanks in advance :).

I don't let mine eat the round bale if I'm actively keeping her legged up to run.

Just me.

I don't be have the ability to hay her multiple times a day with squares of hay as she is kept away from me and I can only make it out once a day due to work.

I notice you are from NE Texas ... what city ... where are you finding dusty round bales?? This is one of the greenest parts of the state so dusty should not be a problem.

Unless you are buying hay that got rained on and you are dealing with dust from moldy hay ... ????

Tyler area. It's not that dusty, squares aren't very dusty I just have been told to wet my hay before giving it to keep dust down but I just realized I can't wet the whole round bale ??. Just wondering if it is an issue I should be concerned about and if so what should I do?

Your concern is valid ... on round bales .. buy round bales that have been stored in a barn so the weather does not give you the rotting hay layer on the outside of the bale. Of course putting your round bale under cover while feeding one horse would keep it from being rained on while they are eating on it for what 1-2-3 weeks?? lol .... and almost no waste when using ring feeders ..

The only problem I see .... is if your horse is like mine ... they eat a hole thru the center first and stand there with their heads inside the bale while eating the good part first ... on young horses I flip the round bale up on it's end and then flip a ring over it ... just as a precaution of bale collapsing and smothering a weanling with half their body up in the hole ... by doing this they are eating from the outside of the round sides ... lol

A lot of people are using the $700 carport buildings for run in and feeding sheds
in my area .. and as small barns with panels as stalls ... nice inexpensive way to go ... would work to put a round bale in ...

Brain is working slow .. will PM you about a flat bed trailer and 2 nice combo hay rack and grain trough feeders I intend to sell ... they would solve all of your problems .. on feeding with square bales ..
