Hello!  I moved to Nampa from Eastern OK (now back in OK) several years ago.  One thing I will advise, be prepared for EVERYTHING horse related to cost more!  Shoeing, Vet work, feed, hay......everything.  I'm not sure how many horses you will be taking with you but if you have to pay a farrier, be prepared to sell body parts to pay for it!   I have nothing but good things to say otherwise.  :)

Welcome!! This area is great for barrel racing. There are a lot of local producers, and like others have mentioned, there's usually a place to run at least once a week. The races in Caldwell have some of the best ground I've ever run on. There's also lots of local ammy rodeos if that's more your scene. There's a lot of local cutting/reining/racing trainers and breeders, so it's easy to pick up prospects without having to pay the high ticket barrel horses prices. There are a lot of ladies in the Treasure Valley that are dang good, so you always have people to watch and learn from. We're happy to have you!

Aww thanks guys!! Well, I am excited to move, I'm sure it will be nice. I will be bringing just one horse with me for now, maybe when I get up there and find a job and such, I will probably be adding to that herd! Unfortunately for me I am exceptionally picky, it's really hard for me to find another horse.

What kind of prices are we talking? I'm originally from Las Vegas, so I am used to higher prices.. but I say, as long as the service is good and my boy is taken care of, then I don't mind the price just as long as it is not an arm and a leg! Just a matter of shopping around I guess.

Looking forward to hopefully meeting you all!! :)

I'm in Oregon and if I ever have an opportunity to move or just get board and need a chance, Boise is my choice. Love it there....good luck.

I pay $125 for a full set. not sure what he charges everyone else but he's been my guy for like ten years. I paid $130 a ton this year for half my hay then got the rest from a friend for $90. I don't board but do ride most places that board horses so I can't tell you price wise much there but can as far as what the ground is like etc.
