Changes coming next month, January, for Renew Gold availability. Renew Gold will be in stock and on the computer replenishment in every Tractor Supply store that carries equine products in the US. This means that when Renew Gold is sold, it is automatically replaced without someone needing to sit down in that store and reorder it
(that is the case now
). This should greatly increase availability of Renew Gold
(over 900 more stores
) and greatly reduce the chances of the store being out of product.
In addition, we will be working to increase availability in independent feed stores that can provide the knowledgeable support that only true feed stores can give.
Win
This is very very good news!!

I feed Renew Gold
(0.75#
) + rolled oats
(2.5#
) + herbs/supplements at each feeding
(twice a day
) to my big growing 3 yr old. He also gets lots of alfalfa hay and cubes
(usually some of each
), but I plan to go back more to using hay instead of cubes
(that's a different thread
). He has free access to excellent quality coastal bermuda which he mostly just wastes.
His energy is fine for me-I like him mellow!
The 18 yr old fatty gets same except only 0.5# of RG + 1# of oats.
His energy is always way way up there!

Thats great news!! If only I had a Tractor Supply close to me haha.
Luckily, my little towns co-op sells it! Doesnt stay on the shelf for long though. People scoop it up quick!
Question: With a fear of choke in mind- I know I can mix the oats and alfalfa pellets together in a barrel, could I add chopped alfalfa in there as well to help slow down the chewing process? I would be using Standlee products because that it whats readily available in my area. He doesnt get any hay in the summer time due to being turned out on pasture 24/7. Unless being hauled or stalled.

Are you currently feeding oats or no?
I ask because I notice all of ours eat slower and produce a lot of saliva now that we're feeding straight oats. 3 of the 4 foam a bit at the mouth and the 4th absolutely drools. They have to chew the oats a bit more than pellets and that seems to really kick up the saliva production and slows them down.
I'd try the oats for a while and see how they get along with hogging their feed down before adding alfalfa pellets or chopped alfalfa.

OhMax - I am not currently and he actually never has eaten just plain oats. Hes on a round bale all winter up here and he use to be fed Triple Crown during the summers and I'm wanting to get away from processed feeds. But thats a great idea. Thanks for the suggestion!
