Location: Under The Big Sky Of Texas | I would think useing a treeless for a horse that has KS would be a bad ideal, theres no support in a treeless.. so bad for their back, but I could be wrong, lol.. |

Location: Texas | My horse had kissing spine surgery November, 2015. My vet told me "no treeless saddle"! Use a good quality pad and a saddle with good spine clearance. Put your saddle on without a pad and look down the gullet. It should have spine clearance down the center of the saddle from front to back. |

Location: California | When my mare was diagnosed I was told "absolutely no bareback riding and get rid of the treeless saddle." |

| I had a friend who's horse was diagnosed probably 10 years ago (it was a fairly new diagnosis) and she swore by the treeless helping. She bought one after he was diagnosed if I remember correctly. However, my gelding was diagnosed and I asked the vet about it and he said that most KS horses have issues right where you seat is. You sit down which causes pressure on the spine and actually causes the weight to push the spine down which increases the touching and minimizes the gaps. So he recommended treed (even if a flex tree) to give some support between your seat and the horse.
With all that said, my geldings is mostly behind my seat. More in lumbar area (I believe created from a bad fall) so for my horse specifically, I don't know that it is a big player for us. However, I still use a CSI pad and flex tree saddle. I debated buying a treed saddle but couldn't find one that fit.

Location: Texas! | My horse has had KS surgery and before it was diagnosed I had tried a treeless saddle (originally BM) and he hated it! I would not recommend for KS. |

Location: ARKANSAS | my horse was diagnosed with KS and i ride the JBN treeless saddles with the impact gel pads( the kind with the navajo on top and the fleece on bottom) and Josh harvey at Outlaw Equine said that was fine...also my horse liked it...After getting injections in his spine then it was reccomended a lot of long trotting and exercise to keep his top line built up... But the JBN saddles rides like a treed saddle for you and a treeless for the horse... |

Location: Texas | Interested in knowing, does treeless contribute to KS or back problems in general? I'm faced with a decision on a new saddle right now because my Coats doesn't fit my new mare. My new mare has little to no withers, and it fairly wide-backed. So I need a saddle with a wider gullet, or something that will fit her better. I'm trying a treeless (I've never ridden one), but I'm curious to know if they could hurt them. |

loaded question and depends who you ask. Some vets hate them and some chiros hate them. Some love them.
If you are not balanced, I believe a treeless could be detrimental but I know a lot of people who have ridden treeless for 10+ years without back issues. |

My KS mare had KS long before I had a treeless saddle, I just didn't know it yet. She had multiple issue that finally imploded but none of it related to the treeless saddle. |

Location: MN | NO TREELESS SADDLES ON KS HORSES PERIOD!!!! Just think of the logic? Why would you want to put continuous pressure back onto your horse where he just got done having surgery? The area where he had surgery takes months to heal. Why risk redamaging it? I studied this condition for a long time before my horse was diagnosed because the vets insisted it was ulcers. These horses need rehab, massage, chiro, etc. Their whole way of moving needs to be relearned. |
