| I have 2 head. One is a 7 year old mare barrel horse being seasoned and hauled this year, the other just turned 3 year old mare. Recently started feeding the "Laymon mix'. Which is whole oats with sunflower seeds. Supplemented with vitalize and renew gold, and free choice brome. Just wanting ideas, thoughts from people who feed Ultium. A friend of mine does and his horses look amazing. I've been researching it, some say makes their horses hot? How much do you feed? Just want some feedback.. |

| I've fed it for a little over a year and have been very happy with it. It hasn't made anything hot that I've put it on, but I don't feed near the recommened amount that Purina suggests. On one I feed about 3 lbs and another 5 lbs. When I was hauling last year, I paired it up with their Super Sport supplement and my horses had never looked that good before. |

Location: Phoenix | My horse got high as a god**** kite when I had him on Ultium. I think to get the nutrients in this feed you have to feed too much. I'm on the Renew Gold train. I've had great results feeding 0.5 lbs - 1 lb along with grass amd alfalfa hay--less grain in the gut is a good thing. The MIND of my 17 year old changed completely once I put him on this program 3 years ago.
If you're looking for more bloom, add alfalfa! |

| I have 2 on it plus they both get regular Platinum and a grass/alfalfa
Mix hay.
The easier keeper of the 2 looks great. The other one has made huge improvements and we are starting him on an ulcer course today.
I wouldn't call either one hot. One is getting about 6 lbs and the other 4, split in 2 feedings. |

Location: North Dakota | Both my futurity and derby horse are on Ultium and have been for about a year and a half. I'm very happy with the results I've seen. Neither have lost their minds and both are in great physical shape. I feed about half the recommended amount they suggest for horses in active training. The only supplements I have them on are MVP Exceed 6-Way and Forco. |

| That was my next question.. how much to feed? The bag recommendation seems like a lot! And i tried forco once, my mare wouldn't try it! I just started the vitalize about a week ago so waiting to see the results. |

| This is one of those feeds that it is very important to measure. I feed it to 3 horses currently. I only feed it to the "hard keepers" everything else gets strategy healthy edge. I am feeding my barrel mare that gets rode 4-5 days a week 4 lbs twice a day but I just started adding alfalfa hay so I hope to reduce the amount of feed shes getting. I feed it to a 2 year old that was under weight when I got her, she is only getting 1 and 1/2 lbs twice a day along with healthy edge. And I feed a 3 year old stud colt 4 lbs twice a day also. They all look better than they ever have. Compared to the previous feeds they were getting they are getting a lot less feed at each feeding. |

I take a lot of pictures. I give a quantity 10 days to 2 weeks to start to notice a difference in pictures, unless I notice a decline before then.
Our hard keeper may get bumped up a bit when it gets warmer and they really being worked hard, but we are hoping a round of ulcer treatment aids him as well. My preference is to bump forage before concentrate though.
I would add our 2 super easy keepers are on strategy and also look/feel good. |

| Ultium made every horse I had it on bat crazy, so I use Triple Crown senior and have AMAZING looking horses with level minds. I think the corn might be the contributor in the ultium. The TC is alfalfa and beet pulp based. |

| I absolutely love Ultium! I haven't had any horses get hot on it. It doesn't have as much alfalfa like most feeds so the calories are pretty much cool calories but every horse is different. You definitely don't need to feed as much as most other feeds which is nice. Maybe the horses that get hot on it are getting too much? I have mine on Ultium, Platinum Performance, alfalfa cubes and free choice grass hay and they look the best they ever have |

| I really like it. I haven't ever had a problem with it making my horses hot. What I really like about Ultium is the consistency in every bag. I have fed other feeds from other brands and didn't have the same consistency. Makes me wonder.. what is different with this batch? bad ingredients? I have always been curious about Triple Crown Complete but have never taken the plunge to make the switch.
If you are needing just to add fats to their diet, adding Amplify to your program will help with that. |

Location: NE TX | I had one on it last year and part of the year before that but at $25 a bag it was making it hard on my checking account. I loved the way my mare looked on it but she was also hotter than she normally is on it and she's already pretty darn hot!
I switched to Bluebonnet Equiline pellet about 6 months ago and I don't feed as much, it's cheaper and in my opinion she looks better on it than she did on Ultium and she was on the Perform or whatever he name of the one in the blue bag. |
