I was given the powdered version by my vet, I believe it was flavored because I would throw it in his grain and he would lick it clean, it smelled like candy almost. I purchased that horse very body sore and was told to give Methocarbamol for 14 days.

Haha thats the most expensive one too.  Im wondering if I can do the tablets or the IV/IM because those options were MUCH cheaper.

Tablets are easy just crush up and put in feed or a syringe and mix with applesauce or something.

I've given it several times. Once for a mare that got very body sore and once for a horse that got hurt and had pretty severe "bruising." It's easiest to get the pills and buy a cheap coffee grinder. When I gave the shots I had to give it in two locations twice a day (4 total shots!) It was pretty thick.

Is it something you have to give every day or can just give on show day?

I've done the powder and the pills. I like the pills better because you get the exact amount. I just crush them with pliers and the break easily. The powder is very fluffy which makes it hard for me to measure, kinda like flour. I have given it 10 days. I know a woman that gives it everyday. I would talk to your vet for your specific circumstance.

Β I have used it before, and just bought it at a local pharmacy (it's over the counter) in pill form. I soak them in beet pulp and feed it that way.Β It's expensive doing it this way, I didn't know you could get it in different forms. I'll have to talk to my vet.

I usually have the pills and just dissolve them in water and syringe them to my horse. I've always given it for 10 days, twice a day.

So it takes about 10 days to build up in their system?

Can I get details on this please?

What exactly is it used for, what about ulcers, dosages? I have a horse that was off for 6 months due to hunter's bump and am looking into alternate forms of anti inflammatories if/when I need them.

Robaxin (only methocarbamol) Robax Platinum – Contains an effective muscle relaxant (methocarbamol) plus the pain relieving power of ibuprofen. Ibuprofen is the most effective pain reliever you can buy without a prescription, and at prescription doses it is also an effective anti-inflammatory drug.

I did not know you could get Robaxin over the counter -- I have had a script for both myself and one of my horses once.  My script kicked my tush!  I suppose at a lower dose it could work well and leave an individual (person or horse) able to function fully, just like naproxin can make you dangerously drowsy but Aleve doesn't.  Before using robaxin/methocarbamol I would want to talk to my vet on possible affects on performance.  But it's nice to know there is another anti-inflammatory available.
