Extreme Veteran Posts: 368 Location: run2win land	i attended one last year. I found her a very good teacher. I learned some excellent drills to help. She also encouraged me to go harder and didn't let me let myself down. Very knowledgeable, if youngo to learn, you will. Some people go to a clinic for validation they already know it all. You will get honesty!!!

Elite Veteran Posts: 602	Ive been to one. Great clinic but she does try to sell you a whole new tack set. She will make you ride in a martingale with split reins. FYI if you are not use to it. Another thing, she does take alot of time with each individual (which is fantastic!) make sure when you are done riding to get off and take the bit out of your horse's mouth. (bring a halter to the arena) I saw a bunch of horses hurt from having a bit in their mouth for 8 hours.

Expert Posts: 1520 Location: Illinois	I've been to two, her methods were ingrained into us at the college I went to so it was a natural fit for myself and my horse. She definitely will get on you for those lazy habits you develop. I go to her Eastern Classic and she usually "scolds" me for some of the things I do out of lazy habit that she has gotten after me before. I know a lot of people in my area who have gone and enjoyed it. Personally paying $500 and over for a clinic to me seems insane no matter who, but I feel like I get my money's worth when I leave. Plus being able to compete in her Classics is a great opportunity for those who don't have 1D horses because the divisions are equal payback, plus its a very relaxed environment. She sneaks around and watches you warm up or ride before/after the event that day and will approach you about it. I like that she does that because when I know she's there I'm thinking about what I'm supposed to be doing, and don't always slack off. So when I am slacking off she catches me a lot. After riding/running the same horse for 10 years now I get way too comfortable. My first clinic he had been on the pattern for maybe 2 weeks and she focused a lot on fundamental drills, shaping his turns at lower speeds away from the pattern, and had me do a little less pattern work than others because he was so new to it and had no concept of what to do with himself in a turn. We were able to lope a correct pattern by the end of the 2 days, which was a feat. The second time I took him she focused a lot on my personal riding habits and drills to help me help him a little. By that time he was about 6 years into being seasoned and had himself pretty set, I was just getting lazy. She fixed me during that clinic more than my horse, which shaved off .5 seconds from the opening run to the ending run. So for me it's been worth it for sure.
