99.999% of dogs who have food hypersensitivities are allergic to the protein (i.e. meat, soy, egg) component of the food.

Yep, I changed the protein and my dog is doing much better

We feed ours 4Health and they make a grain free option. Our dog that used to get hot spot no longer gets them and shes keeping weight alot better. she used to be very nervous as well and after switching thats gone away.

I got him on Natural Balance LID (Limited Ingredient Diet) the Sweet Potato and Salmon recipe. Makes his breath horrendous but his itching has drastically gone down and he has no more hot spots!

I feed my dogs Purina One dry dog food which I'm sure has grain in it.  They look and feel absolutely wonderful.  Not sure you have to be that picky to have a healthy happy dog.

I feed Diamond Limited Ingredient, fish/potato to our German Shepherd and Blue Basics LID salmon/potato to my mini aussie. The mini had horrible hot spots, digging and itching all the time. Much better now and she's off all meds now. I also add coconut oil. They are both slick and shiny!

I know people may think I'm crazy but I started a new feed within the last couple of years that I'm very happy with and can purchase from wal mart at a very decent price... let me start by saying I had a golden doodle puppy who had a very horrible stomach and diarrhea issue as a puppy. I started him on the Fromm grain free dog food and that didn't help at all, lots of vet bills and testing later someone suggested the "Pure Balance" dog food for sensitive stomachs sold at wal mart, I didn't want to buy a wal mart dog food so I tried the taste of the wild, more diarrhea, loose stools. Finally i gave in and tried the pure balance and waa laaa no more stomach issues. I don't know what the big difference was in the food but I haven't had any issues since.

I would also trust the brands that have been around for a long time, like purina one.

Here's the breakdown of my feed

Ingredients: Chicken, chicken meal, brown rice, brewers rice, pea protein, poultry fat (preserved with mixed tocopherols), rice bran, dried plain beet pulp, dried egg product, natural flavor, oatmeal, sunflower oil, dried peas, dried carrots, whole flaxseed, dried cranberry, potassium chloride, salt, zinc proteinate, vitamin E supplement, iron proteinate, l-ascorbyl-2-polyphosphate (source of vitamin C), choline chloride, manganese proteinate, l-carnitine, copper proteinate, niacin, d-calcium pantothenate, biotin, sodium selenite, vitamin D3 supplement, riboflavin supplement, thiamine mononitrate, vitamin A supplement, vitamin B12 supplement, calcium iodate, pyridoxine hydrochloride (source of vitamin B6), folic acid
Fiber (estimated dry matter content) = 5.6%
