Location: South TX | Hello everyone, need some opinions.
I have a 3yo colt, Mucho Blue Val. Hancock/foundation bred. 15.2 thick boned. I bought him as a stud when he was just halter broke.
He now has 4 months since he was just started, he's pretty much ready to go. Super calm gelding! Backs up, roll backs, almost side passing etc. He is still a baby and is learning to follow the rules. He is STRONG, his stride is huge. He is still learning to collect himself and do perfect circles. Already trotting a NICE smooth pattern. Trail rides and everything, not spooky at all.
I wanted opinions on what I should do with him.. I am 16, a junior in high school. I bought him to break him and sell him as a barrel prospect but I know not many people like these bloodlines. I know he has the potential to be one and he will easily be a 1D-2D horse. Perfect for any ages. Should I wait more time and maybe keep him? or put him up for sale.. how much would you guys offer for a horse like him?
Thank you! |

| Personally, if you have the time and means, I would continue your training with him. Slow and easy, start him on the pattern and expose him to cattle. If he can be dual purpose, barrels and cattle (sort/ranch/ feedlot), that'll only make his resale value greater.
With his foundation lines, I am not sure how successful, at this point you will be in getting him sold as a barrel prospect. |

| Nice rope horse lines. Many ropers would love to pick something like this up to start roping on. Depending on how he rides I'd guess $2-3k. I just picked up a nice 2yo prospect by Pepper Joe Hancock and I'm stoked to get her in the roping pen. |

| I think it depends on what you would like to get out of him. He doesn't have the designer bloodlines but if he rides nice with good potential;, I think someone would be interested in him for a prospect but you would likely get more with him further along. A friend of mine has a Hancock mare who she started pretty slow, was busy with school and she is squeaking into the 2D now with lots of room to improve. |

Location: SE KS | I have a filly with Leo Hancock Hayes & Lowry Star breeding that I just love, she is coming 4 and has been ridden off n on only since her late 2 yo year. My 4 yo neice rides her & I have to give her a bat to keep the filly going. Love her personality, not much scares her & she is very willing, the directions she can go are unlimited!!!!

If you have the time definitely keep going with his training!!!!
Good Luck with whatever you decide |
