I don't know about you but I am so sick of the ignorance excuse. Or the ooops... sorry I didn't realize when in reality and based on her tweet right after, she is likely only sorry because she might and should lose her job. I don't know anyone affected by the fires but I cannot imagine the loss. I had a tornado touchdown a few miles from me on Monday and all I could do was sit and pray and wait my home and horses were spared.
She needs to find a different job if she cannot think before she speaks. Radio is no place for a person like that.
This Radio isn't really the place for loose lips. There are people who have lost their lives up there trying to salvage what makes their living. It isn't something to be joked about. The loss of life, land, and property is devastating. She should have done her research before she made a joke at another's expense.

I also find it hard to believe that she didn't know the extent. I don't know the whole extent either but from the little I have seen, I know it is nothing to joke about. I cant even bring myself to look at the posts that come across my news feed on fb. And for how much social media a person on the radio is exposed to ... I HARDLY believe she didn't see at a minimum of what I have. |

I agree......making a joke of ANY kind about ANY disaster is just plain ignorant. I am reasonably sure her apology was probably spurred on by feeling the heat and being fearful that she might lose her job. Otherwise, she would have IMMEDIATELY made an apology! |

I agree. If she were the kind of person to be remorseful she wouldn't be the kind of person to make such a distasteful joke. IMO. I feel like after the public uproar she figured she'd better backtrack before she was axed! If I were her producers that's what I'd do anyway, especially with her working for the station she does. The highway is a COUNTRY station!!! I would go out on a limb and say it's very much so supported by the very people she was mocking. You can't have some on live radio with such poor judgement skills.

Can you post it? I can't find any apology. She should have made it a lot more humbly known |

Mainstream Lib media. We have local stations covering the fires but I haven't seen much live coverage. Then again, I'm in N TX. Im sure there is better coverage further south. |

I would be a bit more open minded to her apology if she hadn't immediately posted a tweet about "get over it day."
ETA - I know her apology says it was posted before but again, I don't think this is her first offensive comment based on that tweet.

I am truly disgusted with the national news media about these fires. I wouldn't even know about it, if it weren't for Facebook and this forum. Absolutely disgusting. On another note, I got chills just watching the video of all the trucks bringing donated hay.

I don't think liberal or conservative has anything to do with this coverage. It's just that what comes out of DC and LA is so much more interesting to the majority of the public than real human and animal suffering. |

We're in Texas and they haven't had much about the fires in Texas, Oklahoma and Kansas but a 50 acre fire by the Coors brewing company made national news. For days we had to hear about a blizzard that was suppose to hit the East Coast. Pretty sad. |
