mreklaw - 2017-04-05 1:14 PM I agree with NTO they fit differently on each horse. If your horse has a high withers and big drop at shoulder it will make those saddles fit almost a whole size smaller. Also, if your horse has a really round back and no withers you need a really thin pad. And with the drop rigging you need 26 inch girth. As far as size you should go up a whole size so if u ride a 14 you have to go up to 15.5 because they don't make even sizes. I don't like the Tammy. I have a Jackie and like it more than the BM. It's easy to post in. That being said I hate running certain horses in them. Hard to stay up with some horses.
She has a pretty round back with hardly any withers.  I'm using a fairly thin pad (3/4 inch with no buildup or anything on the front).  Until I get it really cinched down, there's space between the saddle and her withers, I don't know if that's normal or not.   I'm using a 28 girth, may need to try the 26.  Interesting the difference you feel between the Tammy and Jackie.  I haven't ridden the Jackie.  I didn't have much choice when I got this one.  I got to try it on my mare, but the saddle I had didn't fit her so I couldn't keep using it.  This one fits her much better but it just isn't comfortable for me.  I feel more comfortable running in it, but when I ride daily it's miserable.  Maybe it's just not the saddle for her or me either one.
I have'nt read all the replys, but are you using a wide fit treeless?
No it's not a wide.  It's a regular and when I got it and they said the main difference in a wide and regular is that the wide fits like it's broken in.   They said the regular would fit like a wide once it's broken in.  I bought it used and it was broken in but not used a ton.

The wide has to be broken in too. My Jackie set up a little at first but finally relaxed and sets down now. If your mare is that round the wide would have been a better fit. I did ride the Tammy and I felt very confined in it. The cantle doesn't set as high on the Jackie and feels more like a normal saddle. What part of Texas are you in?

Hummm never heard this befor, who was telling you a reg. would fit like a wide once its broken in? Sounds like to me you needed to be trying a wide fit on your mare and a larger seat for you. Sounds like a bad fit you and your mare if your that miserable riding in this saddle.

The person I bought it from told me that.  She is very knowledgable and has a bunch of horses in these saddles and said none of hers she used a wide on.  I asked about the wide knowing the reason that my Coats didn't fit her is because she's thick-backed with hardly any withers.  I sat in another brand of treeless with a 13.5 seat (knowing it was too small, I ride a 14 treed saddle) that was my friend's on my mare and I almost felt more comfortable in it than I do this one.  It's weird.  I think maybe it's me and my preferences and not the saddle, but you may be right it's just not the right saddle for either of us.  Thanks for your help.

I have found a 15.5 that's a wide that a friend is selling.  I'm going to try it on my mare and ride it and see what I feel like.  If I don't like it, I think I'm going back to a treed saddle.  Thanks so much for everyone's input and help.  I'm pretty clueless on treeless.  I've ridden treed my whole life until Jan.
