| I ordered some Cur-OST Total Support and the Immune & Repair for my gelding with COPD. Should be here Thursday and I am really excited to try it. And since there are some Cur-OST experts on here, I'm looking for pointers, advice, etc and I just want to make sure I understand it all correctly.
The Immune has no loading dose, just 2 scoops a day - is it better to feed 1 scoop in the morning & 1 at night or both scoops together?
The Total has a loading dose of 2-3 scoops twice daily for 14 days then 2-3 scoops daily for maintenance. So after the loading dose is done, is it better to feed 1 scoop in the morning & 1 scoop at night? both together?
or do I feed all 4 scoops Immune & Total together?
I feed the Immune & Total for 90 days then just do the Total, correct? Is there any point at which I will feed the Immune again?
I recently read that coughing may get a little worse before it gets better.
Approx how long til I may notice results? I know that all horses are different, just curious.
thank you!

 Vodka for Lunch
Location: Lala Land | I had to start with one scoop of each (I give it in the evenings) for a couple of days until he got used to the taste. I pour a little water over the feed and stir it in. I gave them both together in one feeding. After the 90 days I went to just 2 scoops of Total, he has been hurt since Nov and has only gotten 1 scoop of the total (he does better in the winter in general).
I noticed a breathing difference in the first week. He had less of a runny nose and could get his air more easily when I rode him than before. With mine he did not get worse before getting better, but he wasn't a severe case maybe? |

Location: Alberta, Canada | I always feed my cur ost in one feeding (once I get to maintenance dose)
Big difference in my mare within 2 weeks.
Best person to approach with these questions would be Dr. Schell. He has a forum at secondvet.com and likely if you do a search, many of these questions will be answered :) |

Location: North Dakota | You always feed together, don't split.
Example during loading dose:
AM:
2 scoops Total
2 scoops Immune
PM:
2 scoops total
Example after loading dose during first 90 days:
AM:
2 scoops total
2 scoops Immune
PM:
none
After 90 days:
AM:
2 scoops Total
PM:
none
Hope that helps with those questions.
Immune can be added back in when temperature changes are happening or during times of stress.
You could also try Revive at 1 scoop per day after the 90 days to support if you are hauling or working your horse but reduce your cost.
Immune or Revive is always nice to have on hand.
It took a few weeks for me to notice a difference in the beginning. I use 1 scoop Plus and 1 scoop Revive on my COPD mare.

This. ^^^^ That being said, you may want to start light and work up to the full 2 scoops of each product. Some horses will show some resistance toward eating it.....don't freak out! Just add in whatever they don't finish on top of the next feeding. They will eventually give in. One thing I tell everyone is that your horse may increase coughing and even cough incesseantly after a few days on the full loading dose. This is a good thing and you want to encourage that cough by encouraging your horse to move and get that trash up and out of his lungs.
DO NOT SPLIT THE DOSE. Feed 2 scoops of each product together, even after the loading dose phase.
You won't regret this choice for your horse, I assure you! And welcome to the Club!

I have one on the Immune and I feed it at the same time. I would just feed it all together. I would probably forget the second one and be SOL for the days dose! Correct on the 90 days and then only the Total. I have one on 3 different CurOst supplements. He gets all 3 for 90 days then goes to the EQ Plus only thereafter. He gets all his at the same time in his alfalfa mash at noon. Eats it right up. |

| thank you for the reply's!
any tips or tricks to him to eat it? I gave him a little of the Total last night in his Renew Gold and Formula 1. He didn't really dig that. I can't imagine having him eat 4 full scoops at a time, seems like so much powder! |

Just give it time. My horse took a few days to realize it wasn't poison but now she licks her bowl clean every time. |
