Location: TN | My hubby and I didn't honeymoon after our wedding in September so we're planning to go somewhere this year. Only thing is... it has to be affordable! We spend too much money on our horse habit lol.
What suggestions do you all have? We're in Tennessee so somewhere around 12 hours away we can drive to and that would save money but we're open to traveling farther if we can get cheap enough plane tickets. Somewhere west of the Mississippi River or a horse/western themed event would be good...
Any ideas??? |

| You can get to and enjoy Las Vegas for fairly cheap. Depends on your definition of cheap. I'd say you could do Vegas for under $2000 - $2500 if you did it right.
Around you there would be Nascar races, Kentucky Derby, The Ozarks or Branson, MO, Cincinnati Zoo wouldn't be too far, New Orleans, etc.
My favorite is Yellowstone National Park, the Badlands, and the Mt. Rushmore area. That's probably more than 12 hours, and not easy to fly into, but we are going back for round 2 this summer. Can't beat nature! |

| I was going to say Vegas too! If you can wait until December I'd say NFR.

| Download Groupon and look through their deals! We've done a couple trips off of there. You can find some with some pretty heavy discounts! |

Location: TN | Vegas and the NFR is definitely an option. We went there in 2015 but could always go again.
We would LOVE to go to Yellowstone but with flights and car rentals the cost was jumping up pretty high unfortunately.
Ideally we'd like to spend $1500 or less. Maybe somewhere in Texas?

We used to go to Eureka Springs all the time. Then started going on to Branson instead. These pictures have made me want to revisit our old stomping grounds!! And then just take day trips to Branson. I'm so glad you posted this. Maybe that can be our getaway after tax season/Daddy's surgery. . . .
To the OP, Kentucky Derby as was mentioned, as well as Branson. And my crew loves going to Ft Worth. We aren't hard to please tho!!

The derby would be fun! I hadn't thought about that. Ft. Worth is definitely on our list of possibilities. What do you all like to do/see when you're there? |

Went to the Derby grounds on our honeymoon---missed the Derby by like a week!! But it was so much fun just soaking up all that horse ambience and just the ritual of all that.
We are almost always in Ft Worth during the NCHA Futurity, so we do that of course. We go to the Stockyards, eat at Cattleman's Steak House, visit the famous western stores there. Last time we were there, Chandler has always wanted to go to South Fork, so we did. It was snowing and icy and awful weather, but we LOVED it!! (He's only 19, but for some reason has always loved the old Dallas shows, so I loved watching him take all that in.) There are some stallion stations not too far driving distance also, I believe. Some of the TX BB can add more ideas, but I think you'd enjoy it. Whatever you decide I hope you have a ball!

Location: Kentucky | Derby is crazy expensive, just an FYI. You also wouldn't be able to book a hotel within a 50 miles of there.
We just booked Key West for under $1500. I search for flight deals, as well as condos on VRBO. They are usually much cheaper than hotels. |
