Anyone live in Maine or vacation there? When are the best times to go? Looking for more outdoor/beach related things and not snow or skiing. Best places/towns to visit? Thanks!

I visited there every summer growing up. I'm born and raised Texan, but my grandmother lived just outside of Portland.
It is BEAUTIFUL early October when the leaves change color.
Portland is a very cool city and has Spurwink Chapel
(my parents were married there :D
), Portland Head, there's a historic old island
(I can't remember the name lol
) that has all kinds of trails and stuff. Old Port in Portland is cool too.
Unless you are used to COLD ocean water then don't go in the water
. I used to be able to do it when I was little but one of the last times I went I put my toes in for about a minute and I couldn't stand it anymore. This wimpy Texan got RIGHT BACK OUT!!
Popham Beach is where we always went when I was a kid.
I'm horrible about checking threads again so if you have any other questions PM me and I can try to ask a few people for some other ideas.

What time of year are you coming?!?!? I love it here - but we always say there are 2 parts of Maine. The commerical southern part, and the central northern state. What kind of activities are you looking to do? Seafood, hiking - Bar Harbor is a huge destination for everyone - gorgeous - carriage trails, awesome seafood, beautiful scenery and Acadia National Park. You will have fun!
