| Anyone know of any Barrel Racing Paint stallions in PA/notheast/east coast? Not have much luck finding any. Thanks! So it seems live cover may not be the best option...What APHA Stallions should I check out?

| I am leaning towards live cover, but this will be my first experience with breeding so not 100% sure yet. |

Unless you have a friend with a stud up the street, shipped is much easier for everybody involved, especially the horses. Lots of people want to live cover because they feel it will be cheaper, but after mare care, lutalyse, Histrelin, ultrasounds, etc., it come out about the same but more risk is involved. Even with my own mares, I can collect once and breed a couple mares with one dose. So unless I have a problem mare that needs to be live covered I am usually not willing. |

I think live cover/herd situation is more economical if you have a substantial group of mares and enough land to throw them out on and aren't really wanting to do much in the way of standing to the public. Otherwise, yup, shipped is going to be your best bet.
Tons of great Paint stallions will ship. Look at Awesome Chrome who has had some winners in the barrel pen. |

Location: WI | I'd breed a miniature donkey to Strait Firewater. LOL He produces some of the nicest, user friendly horses around. I have one, wish I had about 10. She's been the easiest colt to work with since Day 1, pretty sure she was born broke and came on naturally to the barrels with very little effort. I highly recommend him. I believe he is in Michigan. I don't know many (if any?) studs out there these days that will do live cover anymore. |

Location: Where I am happiest | AI is alot less risky for both the stallion and mare. Plus by the time you factor in hauling and mare care plus all the same vet bills you save absolutely nothing. Added to that is the risk factor for your mare. Unleash your geographical constraints and breed to the best horse possible irrigardless of where he lives. On another note, there is a FB group page "Barrel Racing Breeders Magic Cross" that has a stallion photo album on it. There is like 100 stallions in that album and alot of them are paints. Might want to check it out. |

Location: Texas | Awesome Chrome (AQHA/APHA), Strait Firewater and Sky High Fame are my favorites of the available paint stallions. They are all very nice quality, having seen them in all in person. Awesome Chrome is just up the road from me. He's produced many winners and has been primarily promoted towards paints. The person who stands him is super easy to work with. |

Location: PA | I have a yearling filly by Strait Firewater that I love!! She's smart, athetic, gritty, and gorgeous to boot!
I'm breeding my mare back to Strait this year, so God willing I'll have a full sibling next year!!! Can't say enough good things about Strait. Love him! |
