| I have one of our mares that's got allergies, she's fine all winter long, unless we get a batch of dusty hay, but now that the weather is warmed up she hacks when in general riding at home, usually a good 6 coughs once we start long trotting. And of course after I make a run she will cough once. I had a BAL done last summer, found mucus buildup that was about it. I've tried herbs of the world, another Chinese herb blend, I can NOT get her to eat any herbs in her food. Does anyone know if there is a pellet form for allergy prone horses? I feed exceed 6 way now, she will eat anything pelleted but not in pure herbal form. |

| Β When you had a bal done did they find any inflammatory cells? Normally if their airway is inflamed due to allergies they will find some sort of inflammatory cells like an elevated level of neutrophils in the cytology. That would explain the inflammation due to allergies. The treatment for it is a round of dex and then watering hay. Did they scope your horse too and see mucus? How did the airways look?

Location: Southern Indiana | Smart breathe is the only one that comes to mind but I haven't tried it. You need to soak that dusty hay though! It will help more than you think. |

Location: Oregon | Oxy-Gen 2X ProB is a pellet that was created for horses with allergies, COPD, etc. There is also Oxy O2, Rush and Oxy Silver pastes available that help with lung function and breathing.

| When the BAL was done it revealed moderate mucus buildup and mild allergic inflammation. No direct evidence of bleeding. The vet said do a short dose of dex, and whatever Spec-tuss is? And recommended Chinese Yunnan patio as preface 3 hours out but it sounded ungodly expensive. So I did buy Equipulmin but was wondering about a daily feed thru |

What's odd is this is all new to me but they never mentioned anything about cells to me? |

the ones that do have horses with COPD have you notice any breathing difference, like better when useing the Oxy-Gen 2x? I have a gelding that I'm pretty sure does have COPD havent vetted him yet to confirm this but pretty sure he is, hes got allergies I know so wondering if this would help he any, so thinking about ordering to try on him for a few months.. |

I have several people that are already and have been using the 2X ProB (daily pellet) that are having success. Some also supplement with the Oxy O2 and/or the Race X – these are pastes that also help support. |

Β yikes I'd ask him why. Ask for the cytology results of the bal. It's very important to know what cells are present in the mucus. Not just that there is mucus. There can be mucus for many different reasons. Either infection or allergies. There are different cells present for different forms of inflammation too. Cells pointing to inflammatory airway disease or copd ect... |
