| Looking for opinions on the best barrel racing clinics to attend. More for confidence building/performance anxiety with my first barrel (I know, silly, but its true)...which causes me to mess up my horse. I am on the East Coast, North Carolina to be specific. Any suggestions?? |

| Paul Humphrey!! His clinics are HUGE on horsemanship and fundamentals of the pattern that make things like identifying approach and turn of the 1st barrel seem 'easy.' His program is great for young and seasoned (people and horses alike). I try to go twice a year if I can afford it. I've learned something different EVERY time and we've yet to do the same drills. He tailors each clinic to his audience so they get the most from their experience. Be prepared to have a sore hiney tho! You'll be in the saddle all day for 2 days!! |

Location: Missouri | Not sure if a drive to Kentucky is too far for you, but Marne Loosenort has fantastic clinics. I recently went to a 3 day one she had in Missouri and totally got my monies worth day 1. And be prepared to have a sore butt with hers too. Plus the cool thing is, day 1 you make a run on the clock. From there you get 1 on 1 attention until whatever drill your working on, you get it right. Then they move to the next person and do the same. On day 3, you make another run on the clock and see how much you have improved. She doesn't do a ton of clinics and they fill up fast. I had a wonderful experience! |

| Josey's has them all over. Plenty of saddle time great for confidence building. Lots of repetition. They have been doing clinics for over 50 years. They know what works. |

I just went to a PH clinic....it was my first clinic so I don't have anything to compare it to. I really liked his drills and I thought he communicated well with all the riders. I went hoping I would personally gain confidence (I am a timid rider, not a bad rider just have a lot of mental self doubt) and I left the clinic feeling pretty defeated honestly. I had spent the last three months softening up the horse I rode at the clinic and he excelled at all the PH drills. I didn't get coached as a rider at all and my horse didn't either. I left thinking well I am really happy with my horse but I didn't gain any confidence because he didn't tell me how I could improve as a rider. I'm stuck in the same place I was before I went. |

There was a PH clinic near here and I decided to go watch for about an hour. I wasn't really impressed. I have been to Josey and Lynn McKenzie clinics and learned a lot at both. I wasn't going to say anything about the PH clinic but since you mentioned it, I chimed in |

Location: Georgia | Went to a Lynn McKenzie clinic once and really liked it. This was probably about 10 years ago though so I cant speak for her clinics nowadays. But I have heard good things. |

Location: Up North | I just went to my first Chris Martin clinic this past weekend. LOVED IT!! He was an excellent teacher. I suffer from self doubt when I ride. He lit a fire under me and was so positive. I would highly recommend him! |

| I have been to several of Paul Humphrey's clinics and really enjoyed them. He not only focuses on barrel racing, but also improving your horsemanship. The drills are something you can use on different horses and he does a good job of explaining why you are doing what you are doing. |

| As an adult, I won't go back to a Josey clinic, but if I had a child, I would definitely take them to a Josey clinic. |

Just looked at the schedule and he is hosting a clinic close to me in August. I'm going to look into it. Thanks! |

| I haven't been to a clinic since Ed Wright passed away. I miss his clinics dearly.
However, I do plan on going to audit a Chris Martin clinic soon. Hoping I'll be able to take home some good information and decide if I'd like to participate in one in the future. |

Location: Nebraska | I have been to Jimmie Munroe and just recently went to a Kristin Weaver Brown clinic. I enjoyed both. I especially liked that Kristin gets on your horse and rides it. It really helped me visualize. |
